  1. The reason they do an impact test is because there is no way they will want you to test it in the way its designed to work. Ie full revs, nose of bar in contact with timber to cause a kick back. The saw will kick up but the inertia will trigger the brake even if your hand doesn't contact the handle. It's probably a more important test than the well known test we generally do.
  2. Just a quick update to say we now have the tree core now in stock.Edelrid Tree Core Its coming in cheaper than the tree magic(still available while stocks last) and as always with Edelrid its a nice looking quality piece of kit. It has a nice touch with the bridge, ie its adjustable while in use.

  4. Congrats to all the winners and donators. Plus a very big to Steve I will contact the Skyland Equipment winners but in the meantime if any of you are reading this drop me a PM with your address and we will get the prizes sent out.
  5. Best present has gotta be my little helper elf! I was hoping for some help on reductions and section fells but his mum isnt too keen on that! So its packing and stock checking in the new year fella. Or maybe its my surprise Tassimo! Its a close call....
  6. That's good news! Cheers for the info. Hopefully the rope choice isn't critical and it just needed that extra bit of weight.
  7. Ooops meant to ask a few things and forgot mate, sorry:001_rolleyes: Anyway, what types of rope were you using and did you find it to self tend on its own or did you have to guide the line or compress the zigzag as mentioned by someone else earlier on? If it did need a bit of attention did it still need it when there was a good bit more rope beneath it? Thanks.
  8. I did try my best to do just that. But, with only 3 of them in the UK there was absolutely no chance! There are plenty of people pre ordering them already so I guess it wont be very long before we see plenty of reviews here on AT. Me and Barry are climbers with around 18 years experience and are still involved with the cutting side so we will definitely be using one out in the field and giving it a right good hammering.
  9. Hmm three of us tried it out but it didnt want to self tend even with the 11mm rope. Now it was only on a climbing wall so prob only about 8-10 feet of rope below the zigzag. The rope doesnt run freely through like a spiderjack or well honed hitch. This was just your standard bit of hand over hand climbing ie not purposely positioning/adjusting the zigzag and guiding the rope through. As Rupe says though a bit more trialing with different ropes may be in order. The guy from Lyon equipment (petzl importers) who came down to demo the zigzag is a decent bloke so i will try and arrange another demo out in the field, but i doubt it will be this side of christmas though. Although tbh it wouldnt matter to me that much as i still prefer my HC/VT over a prussik and i have never had the patience to get it to self tend properly.
  10. More than welcome anytime. Just having another think about the self tending business and there is no chance with 13mm.
  11. £148.33 + VAT. If we can get some movement on that we will let you know and to those who have pre ordered.
  12. Hmm dunno how? We tried 11m aeris and 13mm XTC. Although if someone has managed to get it to self tend then I stand corrected.
  13. We had I know there are quite a few threads already and plenty of info about the zigzag but thought I would quickly post up our findings and maybe clear up any questions that may have been asked or lost in the other threads. No photos mind(well I do have some back on the camera in the yard:001_rolleyes:) but we all know what it looks like now. Bare in mind it was only some trials on a climbing wall. So ill try and be brief. First the only real negatives I could see are.. It doesnt and wont self tend. There are no replacement parts. Not mid line attachable. Positives... No one is going to trap their fingers in it. It is nice and compact. Very well constructed, but more importantly looks like a nice piece of quality kit. Virtually zero sit back. There were questions raised about how it will cope with sawdust, chain oil dirt etc and from what I can see as long as its looked after in the same manner as a crab then I cant see it being an issue TBH. As for wear, I suppose that cant be answered for awhile yet but being stainless steel Im sure its going to fair quite well. It has very good control when braking friction. We tried it with a 60cm sling between the bridge and the zigzag which worked very well for a good reach of hand over hand climbing which combined with the low sit back and compact design still allowed me to reach the top of the zigzag to decend if necessary. I think most people will be very impressed when they try one out as it worked flawlessly. I can see it being a lot easier and less daunting to use for someone who is used to using a good old prussik rather than say a VT/hitch climber setup. As a climber I will definitely be using one as soon as they are available. Unfortunately we didnt manage to keep hold of the demo one as there are only 3 in UK apparently! So none in the shop to try out lads, sorry. But, as soon as we get one in anyone is more than welcome to come and try it out.
  14. Bad news. Good on you to be warning others though:thumbup1:
  15. Not that I know of but I will look in to it. I would send you one over, but I'm just not nice enough TBPH.
  16. Its available now mate, so should be with us fairly soon. Heres a bit of info about the harness. Tree Core
  17. Just a quick heads up to let users know the tree magic is being phased out to make way for the tree core.Edelrid Tree Magic 2 Although we have limited numbers in stock, it is still available to us from the UK distributors who passed on the info.
  18. Bob you need to roll with the times mate. Although a stripagram page sounds far better to me!
  19. Definitely speak to your house insurance company. We have carried out plenty of storm damage over the years and more often than not the insurance company of the householder whos property was damaged will pay out rather than the insurance of the tree owner.
  20. It could be the wire from the on/ switch rubbing against the metal mount of the av rubber. Seen it before, the saw will cut out as though it's been switched off when you put pressure on it. It's the av on the rear left underneath the air filter.
  21. Sorry about the delay in getting back about an update. Unfortunately though there is no update. It's still down for the 1st quarter of next year with no info as to why it's been delayed. On the plus side (well for us )it looks like I should be able to get my hands on a demo battery top handle. which is due out in January but maybe this December. Sorry I couldn't be of any further help but I'm assured the above is the only info available. If I hear any news I will make sure to post it here.
  22. I would get the belt from Vermeer uk as they last for years and guaranteed a good fit. Is it a kohler engine? If so it could have a knackered stator as the magnets on the flywheel can come loose and smash it up, this would also affect the charging circuit ie the battery will keep going flat. Hopefully it's just a wiring problem which is also very common.
  23. The Globe stretch air trousers are £128+VAT, Concept stretch air trousers are £115+VAT and the Zermatts are £240 VAT exempt.
  24. Sorry about the delay in responding, just been very hectic of late! We can more or less get anything from the pfanner range but on special delivery only ie 3-4 week waiting time. I thought I had the price list with me but havent:001_rolleyes: so will post back tomorrow.
  25. I'm going to speak to husky this week about the T536 Li XP, ie hopefully nick a demo one off them:001_smile: so will badger them about the 540. Last I heard it was 1st quarter of next year, but I'm going to have to stop holding my breath as I started at the APF 2010! It will be worth the wait though:thumbup:
