  1. Honestly mate there is no way it should need that much cleaning! The price you have from the USA is unbeatable, well as long as its a genuine husky part. Check the mesh against a light as if it was that bad and you have given it that much of a clean I would be surprised if there arent small holes in it or the mesh hasnt started pulling away from he body of the filter.
  2. Definitely pop in Carl and have a look about and a chat Just check out the opening times Visit Our Shop as they are quite limited atm sorry. Cheers Amy, we try our best
  3. I would definitely look at getting an air compressor if you have the funds and the space to use one. Like all good tools you will find plenty of other uses for it. Failing that a carb cleaner should be good enough to dissolve the oil enough so the sawdust will tap out. I would not scrub the filter as you will probably do some damage and put tiny holes in it.
  4. On the plus side I have 10 ton of sawdust so oil spills will never be a problem again! Cheers lads and lasses I was lucky to have such a nice bit of timber in the first place, all the effort and skill was already done for me.
  5. R.I.P. A terrible accident indeed. I have heard of quite a few deaths from MEWPS usually the machine failing, but in most circumstances the operator falling to their death due to not being stropped in. We hardly ever use MEWPS (prob 0.0001% of the time) but I always strop in. If the bucket flips over it will catapult you to the ground so its always worth bearing that in mind!
  6. Felled a decent sized beech back in around 2009 due to meripilus. We bought an alaskan mill from Rob D:thumbup: and got a good few decent planks and beams out of it.Most of them are still sitting there in the yard being threaten every now and then to be turned into something nice! Anyway, one day moving them about a beam around 4" square fell to bits due to some rot, probably the only bit of artistic imagination I have ever had flared up. So I made this pair of tea light holders. It took quite a bit of sanding and varnishing. I used le tonkinois varnish which worked well when I applied it properly! They really need another fine sanding and a varnish.
  7. I like that, very nice. I always have grand ideas to make stuff, but hardly ever do. Although I have made a beech candle holder which I will have to post up.
  8. Oil is 10W30 and from what I was told by kohler you shoudlnt but anything thicker in as it can damage the piston rings and seals. Plus you want to be very careful and never over fill it as the angles the stumpys work at can cause some hydraulic problems etc.All info from kohler. Plugs are champion RC12YC Filters, I just bought a load of kohler ones ages ago so cant help out on part matching sorry!
  9. Just a quick one to say we are catering for the Husky user in all the essential consumables and spares Husqvarna - Spare Parts - Consumables. Its just taking a lot of time to get everything on the web site so if there is something you require but cant find then drop us an email or give us a call. ATM we have most Husky bars Husqvarna Chainsaw Bar - Husqvarna Chainsaw Guide Bar and chains Husqvarna Chainsaw Chains - Replacement Husqvarna Chains in stock but bars over 28" are low in stock so please call for availability. BTW any feedback on the chain/guide bar selection configuration would be more than welcome, ie is it easy to use, if not how could we improve it. Cheers. Mark.
  10. Right im obviously plugging my shop and product here, yes I have no shame. Now, Ive never tried it but in regards to talking about using old fuel this says it will keep fuel fresh for up to 6 months. Oregon Fuel Additive 5ml - Fuel cans, Oils & Lubricants - Consumables Has anyone had any experience with this kind of additive? I would always advise only mixing up the fuel required if an irregular user but it could be worth a shot for the price compared to a new P&C. Plus I notice some of the stihl high end oils say they have a fuel stabiliser in them. As for the OP question, I have used a good low cost quality semi synthetic oil for the last 17 years and have never ever had a problem due to poor lubrication, plus its made to the same spec and in the same factories as quite a few of the branded oils! We do sell the above two stroke but it aint on the web site yet. The main thing is whatever oil you use get the mix right, I have also heard of quite a few people saying they put a cap full in to a can of fuel!
  11. Gutted.
  12. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/skyland-equipment/44671-introducing-skyland-equipment.html#post689028 Post 3! You better had win!! Always wanted to holiday there but something else has always cropped up. Is there much tree work over there!?
  13. I did mate but only for a few days. Did some conny bashing and chogging, very impressed with it tbh. They have made some changes from the prototype we had, not exactly sure what but I think they have upped the power a bit. The saw feels a lot nice to hold and use, thats comparing to the 020 as I havent used a 201 up a tree yet. I wanted to have a proper run against the 020 but they snatched it back before I had the chance. I think it will wipe the floor with the 201 tbh, and thats coming from someone who would do jail time if anyone tried to prise an 020 out of my hands.
  14. That pic is o so last year. This one has more interesting bits. Husqvarna T540XP Chainsaw 12-14" - Husqvarna - Chainsaws - Machinery BTW I dont know I heard August too.
  15. Cracking pics there mate. Was it a bit of luck with the lightening pic or had you set up for it with a long exposure etc?
  16. I will be checking that out again but Im assured its correct! I hope. Cheers.
  17. Whip the side casing off and have a check of the drive components. Also check the needle bearing but it sounds like a worn drive sprocket to me. It sounds more like these parts than say the nose wheel on the bar or a problem with the chain. We dont have any parts listed on the site yet but its the next thing to do on my list. Although we supply all husky parts we will probably just get a selection of the more commonly needed spares on the web site as saying it takes ages to upload products is an understatement! We have chains and bars listed on the site though.
  18. The Blue Mountain also has the Haix climate system and a few other improvements. A couple of links with some info. http://www.workware.co.uk/view-document.html?format=raw&gid=33&tmpl=component http://www.workware.co.uk/view-document.html?format=raw&gid=34&tmpl=component
  19. Cheers Andy. Matt, glad you like the site and the prices:thumbup1: In regards to the T540XP its not available yet, and I hope I don't get in trouble for saying this but it should be available around August. We had one on demo for a few days and I must say it is a very nice saw, feels a lot nicer in the hand than the 020. I think it will be an 020 beater especially with the improvements they have lined up compared to the prototype we had.
  20. I only checked the prices about 5 times before it went live! Cheers for that and glad you like the site. Hopefully will make it to the AA show as it will be great to catch up with a lot of people. Anytime Mozza.
  21. Cheers Silky fox for the excellent comments and welcome, very much appreciated. There are quite a lot of people signing up for the give-away and don't forget its open to everyone, internationally as well as locally, who registers online. If someone from the Maldives wins I will deliver it personally.
  22. Firstly a big hi to everyone from me, Mark Hughes and my brother and business partner Barry Hughes. Here is a brief introduction to our buiness. Skyland Equipment is a brand new arb retailer and the only one in Liverpool. Barry and I have been working as tree surgeons since 1995, running a successful arb company and also subcontracting to other local arb firms. In the last 17 years there haven't been any local arb shops for us to try, buy or even check out any of the latest equipment, more or less everything we need has been bought online. We aim to change this. Skyland Equipment provides everything from chainsaws, files, ropes and harnesses to Kelly Kettles, sporks and merchandise. In the very near future we will be providing a hire and repair service from mowers and blowers to chainsaws and stump grinders. More details will be posted here and on the web site. Alongside the walk in shop we also have an ecommerce website (Home page) that will be packed with the best equipment the arb industry has to offer with some great student discounts and a regular sign up giveaway. We would really like to find out what you want to see in the shop and the web site by either posting in this section of the forum, PMs or drop us an email at [email protected]. All feedback is very much appreciated, positive or negative. So please pop in to the shop and say hi but for now get on to the website and sign up for the free climbing kit giveaway! Don’t forget to look out for student discounts, future offers and discounts to members. We are constantly updating the website and have many products still to add which we will be doing daily, so remember to keep checking back. Thanks for taking an interest and we hope to see you soon. Best regards Mark and Barry.
