  1. Only about 10 mins left! Climbing Kit Giveaway
  2. Just a quick one to say the draw will take place tomorrow night at 20:00. Everyone who entered the giveaway has been given a unique number which will be chosen from random using this simple random number generator RANDOM.ORG - Web Widgets. Good luck to all.
  3. Its just over two months now since we launched Skyland. Although we have had some great feedback from the guys/girls who have bought online and in shop :thumbup1:we are looking for some, dare I say it, negative feedback in regards to looking and not buying. If there is anything that you think we could do to improve Skyland we would be very grateful to hear from you. Positive or more importantly negative comments are very welcome. We promise not to get offended as it will all be seen as constructive. Although all comments are welcome as posts here if you would rather PM or email me then please do. Thanks again to all our customers:thumbup1:
  4. I agree tbh. It would be far better if the saw was available to buy at the APF!
  5. R.i.p.
  6. Thats the million dollar question! All I can say is that genuinely dont know what the delay has been and it is still on for release at the APF THIS year:001_smile: We have received point of sale posters to put up in the shop of the 540 but no exact date on when we can actually get it on the shelf. There may be people out there who have more knowledge on this matter than me but if there are they are keeping mum for now, which TBH I cant blame given all the hype back at the APF in 2010! I do know that Husky are just as desperate as us all to get the saw out on sale, as im sure they are aware that a lot of people are getting fed up hearing about the saw but not being able to get their hands on it. We were lucky to have tried it out and it has given new inspiration into something that seemed as though it will never happen. When I spoke to the husky tech guy I could heart his heart sink into his boots when I mentioned I was after some info on the saw. He was quite relived when I laughed saying I wasnt asking about the release date. If it isnt out at the APF then I think I will try to 'borrow' one on a permanent loan. Im more interested in using the saw than selling it, hope Husky dont read that bit!
  7. Me and Barry will be going on Saturday but we wont be having a stand there this time unfortunately. We did plan to but Im not afraid to say it would have just been way too much for us to cope with. The logistics of it are huge and I dont think we give enough credit to the organisation and cost that is required by all the exhibitors, hats of to the boys and girls that make the APF a fantastic event. We will be there in 2014 and hopefully at some of the other shows in between. Martyn, Good luck Mate.
  8. Only a week to go before the winner of the climbing kit giveaway is announced. So, if you havent entered yet here is the link. Climbing Kit Giveaway We will also be including an Arbtalk T-shirt, choose from the red, green or grey in a range of sizes from S-XL. They arent on the web site yet unfortunately due to product quantity limitations but that is set to change next month sometime. However they are available in the shop or you can request to buy via email or phone. Good luck all.
  9. No problem mate. I would still be interested to know how it directly to the 201 if anyone has carried out a side to side comparison. Back to the OP question, Ive been onto husky tech and they dont have the dimensions of the filler holes and havent got any at hand to find out. There isnt any parts lists yet so i cant find out if the cap will fit any other saws to compare to. hopefully we can check it out for ourselves within the next few weeks!
  10. I cant compare it to the 201 as I havent used the 201 for any length of time plus only on the ground testing it not in a tree working with the saw. I can compare it to the 020/200T since as a climber I have been using these more or less every day all day for the past 17 years. In short I rate the husky over the 200T and will certainly be getting one for the tree work side of the business never mind for resale. The 201 should have been the next ultimate climbing saw as its predecessors unquestionably were(the previous husky top handles were dire) but it seems to have had too many issues right from the start. I hope Stihl sort it out soon and dont let it linger like the 200T carb issues. The 020T is a classic, if the husky doesnt fall to bits or have running issues then in time I think it will steal that title. AFAIK Everyone who has trailed the 540 wants one. From what I can see its the continuing tightening of the emissions that cause these running problems. The big problem is what to call it when shouting the groundie to tie it on! T540xp is waaay too long and so is 540. Ill probably still say the 'O tweny'
  11. Yep thats what I told the rep, also would be handy if it had a filler on the top so you dont have to stand it at an angle to fill it right up. He thought I was pushing my luck at that one! Apparently they are sorting a transparent one out and I do hope they sort the auto filler as it only works great for about 20 minutes from new.
  12. If anyone from Arbtalk wants to preorder the T540 from us then yes, we will sort them out with a free combi can. The one we had had the old style filler caps unlike the one we have on the web site. Husqvarna T540XP Chainsaw 12-14" - Husqvarna - Chainsaws - Machinery Thinking back I'm am fairly sure they were quite small.
  13. Im always mithering the husky rep about the saw too so dont worry about asking. Although I havent a clue tbh, sorry. We use the husky combi, yep I know it can be a right PITA, we just never got round to buying a stihl one! Although I also hassled the rep about its faults and apparently they are doing something about it! I doubt I will be able to get hold of one again in the near future well not before they are released, but if I do or can find out I will let you know mate. Im surprised the stihl nozzles dont fit the other saws though, I never knew it was a problem! BTW you will want one as they are a fantastic saw so you might just have to buy a new huskly combi can.
  14. Dee, pm me your post code and ill let you know when I'm back in the shop tomorrow. Albere, I will find out tomorrow what we can post it out for.

    Fuel Mix

It might be worth you haing a look at this product.Oregon Fuel Additive 5ml - Fuel cans, Oils & Lubricants - Consumables It could be an inexpensive and easy solution to you problems. I have never tried it myself but then we go through approx 20 litres of fuel a week so old fuel isn't an issue.
  16. Well we have the vizir and petzls in stock so I'm sure I can sort something out. Petzl Vizir - Eye protection - Clothing & PPE I have never used the vizir but I'm going to keep one handy for those "wind in your face no matter which way you turn, choggy beech stems."! Just out of interst if they do scratch up, or any other type of eye protection over time it might be worth trying some polish, you can buy it quite cheap for removing scratches from mobile phone screens etc. I've tried some called displex on my phone screens in the past and it worked really well.: Only use it on the outside though as it will remove any anti fog coating etc.
  17. Looks like we are still on for an August/September release as they are releasing the promotion literature according to the latest email
  18. The battery one is called the T536 LiXP. This is all the tech info I have atm. Designed for professional users who want a lightweight efficient, extremely easy-to-use top handle chainsaw. Perfect for arborists.A robust chainsaw with excellent ergonomics, high performance, high chainspeed and lightweight. 19. Typical, we just ordered a load of petzl gear yesterday and were looking at getting some pantins in but decided against it as we weren't sure how popular they were. Ah well looks like it is worth getting some in then.
  20. why don't they want a grinder in there? There are grinders that will probably do less damage to the shrub bed than having to dig, axe and winch them out. Plus it will be a lot quicker and a hell of a lot easier on the back.
  21. I've been using one for the last couple of months and think its very good. It also comes with the Husqvarna ultra clear visor.Husqvarna UltraVison Visor - Helmet Accesories - Helmets - Clothing & PPE It does have more padding than the vertex vent and is very light.
  22. There's a free one going here.http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/skyland-equipment/45880-climbing-kit-giveaway.html Well if you enter and win there is. Although I'm sure if anyone bought a silky from the web site we can throw in a free t shirt.
  23. Yes it can, yes it is. In short.
  24. True, but, maybe better and I would guess easier to replace the eyelet than a tool strop on your harness. My treeflex agrees with the above.
  25. Just use a plastic bin coupled with your dumpy bag. I wouldnt use plastic bags as they would be a right PITA trying to fill them up.
