  1. Some of the Pressvess retort users have a heat exchanger taking heat from the exhaust gases to dry wood. Think it is made be Pressvess
  2. So law abiding citizens are now suckers. Pretty much sums up the shit hole Arbtalk has become.
  3. Because we have a website and are easily identifiable so no chance of going below their radar. Anyway I like to do things in a straight forward and above board way.
  4. Think it's the end of March 2022 that small suppliers need to be signed up. Spoken with another local supplier and he is having none of it and just carrying on as before
  5. Decided to hold off until March before signing up. No point in my customers paying extra until they have to
  6. Some rather unhappy ash
  7. Surly they can be mechanically operated ? Made a mechanical thermostatic control for my charcoal retort that works very well and is very simple. For a stove some form of bimetal strip might be enough to operate an air vent
  8. I would rather not know! Recon I might give up if everything was costed 😆
  9. The big issue with blockchain is the vast amounts of energy it uses. Bypassing the banks I like screwing over the environment I dont
  10. To be fair the Sudanese fisherman have become pirates as factory ships have cleared out their seas and taken their livelihoods away
  11. Not used a milling chain but should it not have a hook on it?
  12. Might be worth contacting fuelwood as they used to hire out a Splitta 400. I had one in once and its fantastically productive with the right sized wood. It will take up to 16" rings and you can noodle your 30" rings in half to fit. We needed 2 guys on saws and loading to keep it fed and another to move the crates. Think we filled a crate in 5mins and this is nice small well split logs for dinky stoves Splitta 400 WWW.FUELWOOD.CO.UK
  13. Yep, September is often quite good but admittedly not the last couple of years
  14. You can keep the heat. Much happier working in these temps
  15. You are clearly not familiar with the UK weather yet. This is absolutely standard August weather and it normally perks up when the kids return to school. 14.6mm of rain today but easing off now with a good breeze. Might nip off for a windsurf
  16. For sure. Thats why its a bit of a pisser when you pay extra for "processor size" and its not
  17. Pretty much anything IME. Had to use a 36" bar on a couple pieces in "processor size" load! We are a small buyer so beggars cant be choosers sadly
  18. Apologies if its already been mentioned but just came across this that might be of interest Brimstone Ash - Vastern WWW.VASTERN.CO.UK Produced from ash, the most prolific white wood in our mixed woodlands, Brimstone Ash is the most popular item in the range.
  19. I dont think thats quite true. Got some pictures of my cutters off a grinder in this thread and thats the recommended grinding disk for that chain. Doubt a 4.8mm thick disk would even fit on the grinder let alone a 5.5mm one. Edit. From F R Jones 1/8 – 3.2mm wheel fits: 3/8″ low pro, .325″, 1/4″ 4.7mm wheel fits: 3/8″, .404″
  20. All depends how much rain drives in the sides. If the logs dry out and stay dry they will be fine indefinitely. One year we had a lot of driving rain and some of the sycamore developed a bit of surface mould but nothing worse and thats living on an exposed site on Dartmoor.
  21. Whats the planned use for the wood? Think the millers use borax to protect fresh cut boards from worm attack. I have used Barratine clear wood preserver to good effect on cheap softwood for outside doors and painted jobs
  22. It is filth to use and handle but I am so done with redoing fencing that rotted out in just a few years. All our fencing is now done on either steel (Clipex) or creosote treated posts. Had a tip to buy in creo posts well in advance and leave them out in the weather for 6 months or so. Seems to help no end
  23. You can get old school creosote again. Its as orrible to use as ever haha
  24. Had a tinker with my regular Oregon chain for the processor (21LPX) which is supposed to be 25degrees. Gave it a a go at 30 but the tip noticeably blunted faster
