  1. I wouldn't limit myself to 3 tonne. I needed a trailer for our 55hp compact and started looking around for something SH. Never saw anything come up in the lower weight category and ended up with a Mowi 6 tonne at a good price. In reality you would be hard pushed to ever get 6 tonnes on it anyway and our 55 hp tractor has no problems pulling it fully laden with 8'-10' lengths
  2. Bent is poor but dont expect much at that price. My Felder fence came bent and flexes when edging boards and I dont want to think about how much it cost! If you want no flex you need industrial kit IMO
  3. Hope you are right on this. My politics until recently was slightly right of centre but Borris is the lowest of low. Has any leader been such a blatant lier and got away with the way he has? Dont know what to make of Cumming as of late. Clearly he is a clever chap who again blatantly lied to cover his arse on the Barnard castle fiasco but no worse than his old boss does on day to day basis. On the other hand this has a ring of truth around it
  4. My old Protimeter can be properly calibrated. There is a wire that came with it. You touch the two probes on the wire and it should give a specific reading. If its out there is screw which you adjust which is presumably a variable resistor. Checked it once in 25 years and its still spot on
  5. That is the case to an extent. Better to have a smaller disk as when using the the file it will touch up the cutter from the off but wont if you have used a bigger disk with larger radius than your file size.
  6. I wondered about this when I got a grinder but when you think about the radius in the gullet does none of the cutting. The side plate and top plate angels are what matter. Suspect the recommendation for a the thicker grinding disc for the larger chains is more to do with them being stronger as you are removing more metal, Least thats my take on it
  7. Mine is as it came with a 14". Cant see the merit in going bigger as it feels maxed out at that.
  8. Never know such a chilly spring. The pick up in May is only because the nights are warmer due to cloud cover Average temp March 7.2C April 7.1C May 8.1C And yes we are still burning
  9. A mate of mine bought one of the cheap Chinese processors. He promptly sold it having used it for a week. As above try and hire in a contractor and save yourself a lot of bother and expense
  10. They will cut the tops too. I was making charcoal with that lot so took all the spray off but you can feed the lot through. This was my first branch logger with only a small capacity but you can get much bigger versions than this
  11. Think it's a G coupler I use. Its a bit bulkier and can be tricky to get into tight spots but other than that is excellent
  12. No fire through the sunny cold weather as the house warms up enough during the day and is slow to cool but back on today with the wind and rain.
  13. What worries me is the tories have just been given the big thumbs up from the people. We have said we are happy with a leader who at the start of the pandemic chose to let 100 of thousands of us die through herd immunity to save the economy (thankfully was forced out of this option) , who lies for a pastime and has been sacked from multiple job for lying and has shown no moral compass and no humility. If the old adage is right and in a democracy you get the leadership you deserve we as a society are well and truly screwed
  14. Presumably most kilns are on the RHI so making the owners money when in use?
  15. Twin cab and mega money other than that I like it. Rivian do look like they will be first to have an EV truck you can actually buy
  16. Just looked it up. Its a foot wider than my MK6 Hilux! Literally would struggle getting it over the local bridge witch is admittedly very narrow
  17. That would indeed be logical but reading its blurb it sounds like it may be aimed at construction first so could be measuring on a dry basis. "The Moisture Meter can be used for measuring the moisture content of any structural wood and timber, including, but not restricted to: Oak, Yew, Cedar, Maple, Birch, Ash, Beech, Hornbeam, Holly, Cherry and Apple etc. By changing the Mode setting it can also be used to check for rising damp in plaster, in stone and brickwork buildings."
  18. Me too but nothing realistic on the horizon. Ford 150 is a big old beast I presume? Need something slim around here
  19. Toyota says electric Land Cruiser could be coming after battery-electric retrofit trial with client - Electrek ELECTREK.CO Toyota says it’s considering bringing an all-electric version of its popular Land Cruiser to consumers as it’s in the middle of a...
  20. In case you haven't seen it Paul put together a good piece about moisture content that makes the job of drying logs a bit easier if you have regular moisture meter
  21. First thought is Oh to have a climate where log bags like that would dry uncovered 😆 Nice handling but I dont know about you but we have very few drops that you could get that trolley too that I couldn't get the truck into. Guess towing rules there are different as well as that must be over 3.5tonne.
  22. Wood burners: Sale of coal and wet wood restricted in England WWW.BBC.CO.UK Owners of wood burners and open fires will need to burn cleaner alternatives as new rules come into force.
  23. They'd be a good option, they've obviously got their priorities in the right order. Sadly though unless/until we can reshape our electoral system to something more like Proportional Representation they'll always be a "wasted vote" in our broken system. But is it a wasted vote? Just because a party does not get in does't mean the big two dont see where their votes went and adjust policy.
  24. Of course it can as thankfully we still live in a democracy. Let's use the system to change our politics. It is that simple but we have to hold our nerve at the ballot box and vote for the long game not who is less bad for tomorrow
