  1. Hard to say which would have been worse. Both options were awful The big question is what next! There is a huge hole in the middle ground of UK politics that desperately needs filling.
  2. Odd priorities worrying about a Labour MP ramblings when this is our actual Prime Minister addressing some of the most important people in the world Boris Johnson welcomes G7 leaders in rambling speech after elbow-bumps on the beach - Mirror Online WWW.MIRROR.CO.UK The Prime Minister proclaimed the G7 summit open by declaring he'd be 'building back fairer and building back more equal and...
  3. Had a local farmer make a compost heat in a small beach woodland (owned by him). Every tree in proximity to it has died or dying . He has since removed the heap
  4. £3 a kilo would make it worthwhile. Charging £2 a kilo trade at present. Had lots of other makers saying this was too cheap so tried upping the 2kg bags to £4.50 for new customers but had zero repeat orders at that price. Back on kettles is this made in the UK ? Electric kettle MAUNFELD MFK-661CH | Maunfeld - British quality for all the world WWW.MAUNFELD.COM
  5. Yes, I should do it like the pro's. Cut down some virgin rainforest Under cook my charcoal to make it heavy Cover it in fire retardant to make it safe for shipping across the globe On arrival in UK treat it with propellants and bag into "self lighting" bags Oh and use a nice plastic covered bag that won't compost Hay the customer must love saving 50p and the acrid smoke and flames they get from that lovely imported charcoal! My point being it's all about price for most customers. As for kettles we have found a good quality one thats lasted years but cant find where its from so probably PRC Aspect White Kettle | Electric Kettles WWW.MORPHYRICHARDS.CO.UK Aspect White Kettle, 100003, Morphy Richards, The Aspects kettle makes up to 6 drinks at a time
  6. Found a few on our hedges the last year. If we lay them are they going to be less susceptible?
  7. If only that were the case. As a small charcoal maker selling it is difficult. I know its better than all imported but its more expensive as well and that is a stumbling block for most people IMO
  8. Yes, Sri Lanka had no answer to Joe Root 😜
  9. Might have to watch that. Got 3km of hedgerow on our smallholding and always looking at ways to improve their management
  10. That looks great. You must be pretty chuffed
  11. Glad you have got it up and running Mark 👍 How do you surface boards before thicknessing them?
  12. Saw the phrase "A fish rots from the head down" Hanckcock is just a symptom of a deeper problem
  13. With a couple of acres of overgrown woodland do you not have a corner where you can just dump the brash with no need need to chip? Pile it up and once in while run a saw through it to make sit down a bit. Great for wildlife and your pocket
  14. No problem. Its not the this scheme that's made me so ...... ... more our whole political landscape and schemes like this are just the icing on the cake 😆 As for Woodsure I will cough up and take the hit. Selling exactly the same product I did before with the customer picking up the extra costs. No choice in the matter
  15. Dont rub it in J some of us are stuck in this dumb as f**k country with no means of escape
  16. Best chains I have used are Stihl full chisel but I use Oregon as they are a lot cheaper and nearly as good IME. As for bars again Stihl have lasted the best for me
  17. Looking at the HSA 86 as we have the batteries. Wondering what diameter it can cut through. Used to a Tanaka THT 2000 and hoping the Stihl would have similar cutting capabilities Thanks
  18. Still burning if making charcoal counts 😂
  19. Depends are far gone they are. Just been cutting out some ash from our hedgerows. The main stems are fine but a lot of the smaller branch wood is too far gone to make our charcoal from which is a shame
  20. To avoid any confusion I have attached a picture. I find this matters more on the processor. Variation from left and right sides can be big problem with only a small deviation. Less of a problem on the chainsaw IME but it will still have noticeable vibration if different teeth are taking different sized bites
  21. I keep seeing folk say these are not decent units and only suitable for hobby use but thats not been my experience. Sure they are not the last word in precision engineering but are more than capable of doing a pro job of sharpening chains presuming they are all of similar quality to mine. The main pivot is good quality with minimum play if any. The chain support is rudimentary but adjustable and consistent. The weakest part is the chain stop as its a bit flexible. They way to work around this is to put a little bit of tension on the chain by hand when grinding as in picture 1. This takes out any slop and again has proved consistent when done like this. Picture 2 is a freshly sharpened chain off the Lidl grinder and 3 is a brand new Oregon 21LPX the same as I have sharpened. The variation in cutter length from the grinder is 0.3mm and the variation in cutter length on the new unused chain is 0.5mm
  22. Lots on here poo poo them but myself and others get on well the Lidl grinder. £20 well spent IME
  23. Test them first. Local cottage hospital where the better half worked had covid brought it by the city hospital clearing out patients. Staff and patients all went down with it. Thankfully none died I dont like Cumming's but much of what he said fitted with what we saw play out.
  24. Yes, I hadn't appreciated how narrow that is. Casting a tape over ours its 1.9m wide!
