  1. No doubt for furniture air dried is better as you get less tension in the wood.
  2. This is where wet basis is officially mentioned. Page 7 technicalBulletin130121PRINTWEB (1).pdf
  3. Thanks Paul. I have spoken with Woodsure and even though we are pretty clear on whats to be expected this was the reply I got "We are hoping for some guidance to come out from DEFRA so may be worth waiting till then"
  4. Bare in mind that parts of the UK get 4x the amount of rain presuming this is right for Ontario"The annual rainfall is 424 mm" Our logs would rot in no time if stored outside and uncovered . We have had 400mm since Christmas
  5. We always cover all species. Dartmoor so plenty of rain
  6. Only one that I know of. They cook and do the hot water off wood as well. Plenty mix their heating ie running the central heating low and using wood to make things cosy when home.
  7. I remember something along those lines. Not sure the UK has managed a 4c rise haha
  8. The clear sky's of the first lockdown were amazing with no contrails . Honestly never seen them like that even as a kid.
  9. And we charge £120 for 1 cube of logs
  10. When I have weighed a cube its in the 350kg region
  11. At the beginning of all this I was most worried for my dad. Reckoned the best way to get him through it all this was to get him as fit as possible. He used to do a little walk each day but nothing much. I started going out with him on his walks most days and encouraged him to go little bit further each time. He now does 2-3 miles most days which is not too bad for man in his late 80s. Also got to know him better as we have never really been close. Works been good as everyone wanted charcoal when restrictions were eased and we were encouraged to meet up outside. Then this winter everyone is stuck in so log sales have been nuts. There was and is still is demand for everything local and long may that last. It may have always been there but there is great community spirit with everyone looking out for each other. Asked an old boy down the road if he needed weekly shopping doing and he said "no need as I have had four offers of help" First lockdown was a mountain bikers dream with completely empty roads and moors. Favourite sport of windsurfing requires traveling out of our local area so taken up running again and really enjoying it. Also running with the better half which has been fun All things considered really cant complain
  12. This is looking hopeful 😀
  13. Second the Hailo with adjustable foot. Being able to set it up vertical in seconds on uneven ground saves so much faffing
  14. Still a bit cheaper than logs then and drier
  15. Mines a single cab but the Hilux on ice is not great especially when empty. Rather drive the 2wd family car with winter tyres than the Hilux with ATs on. Deep snow its fine but bare in mind the 4wd on all the pickups is not for continuous road use and should only be used when on a slippery surface.
  16. Broad beans went in a while ago. Looked great until until the easterly blast last week. Now waiting to see how many have survived
  17. Ringshank nails hold OK
  18. Buying from my local dealer to make sure of back up
  19. An MSA 220 is on its way. Hopefully it's the right choice. The Husky is more powerful but maybe more of a saw than is needed for my hedge laying and a lot more dosh.
  20. Think DPFs came in around late 2010
  21. No need for that until May 😀
  22. I thought stove thermometers were for putting on the flue just above the stove so an indication of flue temp
  23. Can we have that excellent explanation pinned on the firewood forum?
  24. No expert when it comes to trucks but when I got my 09 Hilux it had done around the 100000 mile mark. Asked if this was a lot of miles on the Hilux owners group and the general consensus was that it was just run in! I hear of more trucks being scraped due to rusted chassis than dead engines
