  1. Just had a chat with Woodsure and they were very clear that we dont have to enrol and there are no costs if supplying loads in excess of 2 cube. DEFRA will be drawing up a letter we need to supply to the customer on how they should dry there logs (delivered at 21%-22%) Thats us sorted thankfully Might make up a letter to deliver to all customers to alert them of the future changes. probably 2/3 of our logs are sold in 2 cube loads already and it might give others a chance to build some extra storage space
  2. Any links to all this info?
  3. Thats the way we are heading. Could have sold our supplies twice over this year so can probably sell out doing 2 cube loads only. Doubt the cash in hand boys will be affected so still plenty to supply the smaller buyers
  4. Made a kayak many moons ago from Granta. It was a plywood stitch and glue construction. Our kit was already cut out but needed a lot of fettling to fit together nicely. Cant remember it being too difficult and the glass fibre tape covers a lot of sins 😆
  5. Ours is a closed combustion system. Work fine. I have read that because you are drawing in cold air instead of air at room temp secondry combustion is harder to reach but cant see 20C can make a lot of difference. The only times I have had a slight problem is when we get a gale from the east (the way the air intake faces) it can be tricky to light but nothing like the problems you are having. I would extent your flue higher above the ridge as well as looks very low.
  6. Should be OK. Scott and Sargeant have been in the trade for a long time
  7. Only used a Tormek for regular woodworking tools but it was painfully slow. They have to run slow as they would spray water everywhere. When doing my training the workshop had horizontal grinder called a Sharpenset that could have quite a course stone for grinding and might be good for grinder blades. Seems they are still going but the website looks like it dates from the 90s haha. OK forget that. When looking for the Sharpenset page I found this which looks way better for the job iTECH 630mm Planer Knife Grinder 220v 1ph WWW.SCOSARG.COM An entry lefel planer knife grinder: manual movement but suitable for users who wish to sharpen their own knives in the...
  8. BBC Radio 5 live - In Short, Covid rule-breakers 'have blood on their hands' WWW.BBC.CO.UK Professor Hugh Montgomery says hospitals are facing a "tsunami" of Covid cases.
  9. Had a problem with my Farmi doing this one summer. A combination of using some different chains which were more aggressive and very dry ash. Swopped to a semi chisel chain for that batch and all was fine
  10. They did have an amazing reputation but think its waning. My mate uses a few Festool tools. He has quite a lot of problems but they are still excellent about warrantees but its still a pain being without tools while they are being fixed.
  11. Great burning wood IME. Had a customer say "do you have any more of that rocket fuel we had last time?" One year is enough in the right spot. We do split it a bit smaller say max 3" x 3" but we are seasoning in less than a year to 20%
  12. Looking at the amount of dust we get in wood burning season I wouldn't doubt it. Also can smell it in the house after reloading so clearly not everything is going up the flue.
  13. I use Makita and my mate uses the Festool. Not much in it as we use each others saws on site from time to time. My Makita is a bit more accurate but to be fair his Festool has seen more work. Both good tools IME. Mafell is better than either from what I hear but not tried one
  14. Picked up an ex army gortex of ebay after a recommend on here. Proved perfectly waterproof. Hoods massive but the upside to that is it fits over ear defenders. Pretty good work coat for the money. At £30 its no biggy if it has a mishap
  15. Dehumidifier in our utility room does all our cloths drying. Would be even faster in a small cupboard
  16. Did a head to head here with a mate. Regardless of the book numbers my mates 562 was better
  17. 95% sure that's ash. Is so it's a fairly hard timber that is one of the driest when fresh cut but slow to give up its remaining water. Often gets ash bark beetle that lives in the bark and looks much like regular woodworm but doesn't seem to eat the wood. Good firewood as said above
  18. Might be worth a read
  19. That is one of the earlier models. If you put it over weigh bridge you find it well over the axle limit! The newer ones come on an uprated trailer and axle. Check what the cycle time is on the ram as I think some had a slower time than the more up to date versions with two speed rams but dont know when they changed. It does look very little used for sure. The aluminium conveyor paddles are better than the rubbish plastic ones they have now. Check the in-feed of the ram as some of us have bent that part. Cost me 1k to replace. Great little machines
  20. It sits over an improvised bund so if it did spring a leak all would be caught. Main tap is always turned off when not filling anyway
  21. I was of the understanding if it was mobile there was no need for a bunded tank. We use an IBC and raise it on a crate of logs so no need for a pump
  22. Had a lovely sunset a couple of days ago. It was just great to see the sun again after its recent sebbatical
  23. We dont have loads of spare beds and staff. This is and always has been the limiting factor. There will undoubtably be a nasty spike in cases over Christmas so we need the numbers down in advance plus we still have to wait and see if seasonal flu adds to the mix. Bear in mind our hospitals are under staffed on a good day pre C19. Liz worked in Deriford hospital for 2 years and I can count on one hand the mount of times they were fully staffed and able to do their job as they wanted. People break the same as machinery but they are far harder to fix!
  24. I dont have a problem with it. If the city numbers were lower I might agree with you. Also in the SW we have low hospital bed space per 100000 and an older demographic. Not a good combo with covid. They opened the Exeter Nightingale hospital today which shows our problem here
