  1. The chap who asked the question knew all along what it is and no corect answers yet. Keep guessing
  2. Posted on another forum where they are frankly hopeless at wood ID. Aparently it's in Norway and 20" across so pretty fast growing.
  3. A close up would really help. Was it paler when first cut? At a guess I would say sycamore
  4. They are still having problems! Needed some spare parts 6 months ago and they said they were having problems with Loadhandler US. Ended up making some parts. Amazed they have not got this sorted yet. Shame really as the because the principle of thing is brilliant but let down by some weaker components.
  5. I wouldn't be too concerned over this infecting yours or customers houses. Aparently woodworm does not like dry wood that is likely to found in the home. Tip 3 from here Guide to woodworm problems - OurProperty.co.uk
  6. Don't know if they deliver up your way Jon but these guys are great. Metal Roofing Sheets | Corrugated Roof Sheeting | Cladco LJT If you want to do it on the cheap get some seconds from them. Usually just a colour issue that makes them seconds.
  7. A few friends have the DAB Makita radio and it would take some beating. Nice and solid, good sound quality plus the only load DAB that packs a punch when it comes to volume. Screwfix sometimes have an offer where you can get the DAB Makita for £100
  8. Interesting read Tom and well thought through but I don't want to see regulation. Regulation will inevitably cost somewhere down the line. This will inevitably be worse for the small legitimate guy. Buying logs is not like buying petrol as you used in an analogy. You can see your load of logs and test it if you choose. Trying to do that on a forecourt is basically impossible. As for logs size Vs weight splitting makes more air gaps so lighter but shorter logs split to the same degree do seem to fill in a few gaps so a bit heavier. Short logs spit small are similar in weight as longer larger diameter logs IMO. Might do a test if I can be ar$$ed as have often pondered this one.
  9. Did ours through Yola. The basic package was free and only paid for the domain name which costs £12 per year. It's basic but gets most of our log sales for a mornings messing about on a computer
  10. Yes did notice how long the cord lasted. Not sure it would have lasted all day without getting annoyingly short but certainly the few hours I was attacking yard. Same job with a strimmer and I would have been replacing the line every 20 mins or so.
  11. Sorry Countryboy but can't help with your question. As for grazing animals on bracken it does not work. Dartmoor has loads of bracken and is heavily grazed with sheep, cows and ponies. Never heard of anyone losing stock to grazing it because they simply don't eat it.
  12. Heard about about some nasty storms up country. Saw this video posted of one of them. Looks proper destructive. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOYZqGBdfCk[/ame]
  13. Thats great. :thumbup1:Thanks
  14. Started discussion on this yesterday but impressed with it so far and the line seems to last much longer than if I had used a strimmer. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/89605-any-recommends-wheeled-strimmers.html
  15. Naa probably hotter at JET in Oxfordshire Well if they were running
  16. Just demoed a wheeled strimmer for the first time and it would munch that mess
  17. Not used other brands but Rustins is good stuff
  18. Got to take this one back now but may well be my mine soon This video is fairly representative of what it can do except the 1m high grass at the speed shown due to lack of power. [ame] [/ame]
  19. Good to hear Barry as I can buy the machine I am borrowing. A lot of the areas I would use it on are rutted ground left from the tractor so quite hard on the axles. Are they reasonably tough? Yes Pete goggles seem essential with this brute. Also found my hands quite tingly after 1/2 an hour so some anti vibe gloves will be used. Got too many friends with the beginnings of white-finger
  20. This is only for home use but we have lot of rough areas around the yard and a large rough lawn that often gets too long to easily mow during wet periods. Strimming is a slow task and to be honest I am no expert with one anyway. Borrowing a 6.5 HP DR wheeled strimmer and seems a handy bit of kit and seems to do the job of the mower and the strimmer. Not used one before today and not sure what to look out for so any advice welcome. Thanks
  21. That's the way to do it Daniel
  22. Seeing all the press talk of a heatwave I thought best see what we are expecting. Punch our postcode into the met office web site to see we will see the dizzy heights of 23C today and no higher than 21C for the rest of the week. Can't say I am complaining as it's quite hot enough already. Processing yesterday and got through 5 litres of water mind you that's standing next to an 65C oil tank.
  23. Think we have discussed charging biochar before can't find it. Wanting to make good use of the waste from our small scale charcoal making. I have tried putting the waste on the garden as is but not noticed any difference thus far. Wondering if simple compost heap loaded with nettles, green waste and the biochar would work.
  24. Could do one of these in my workshop
  25. Yes experiencing this now. Got a pile of oldish beech that I recently processed. It was on the turn but still soaking inside but now cut and split are drying hellishly fast.
