    Now that sounds more like it I had read talk of a 25% of the wood used to fire a kiln but with that sort of efficiency can see how you can run it on "waste"

    Remember my first ride with them. Never tried them and bolted them on just before an epic riding Dartmoor north to south off road Fell off too many times to remember but the bogs of Dartmoor are a soft landing. After that baptism of fire they became a doddle. Could never go back to flats

    Farmi WP 36 road tow. £25 per hour + fuel (for processor) and travel @ 45p per mile.

    NO Thought it would be a nice little earner but had not realised how hard on kit it would be. Probably need to put my prices up soon to help cover wear and tear.

    Thanks and makes sense but don't think it's the case. The un-greased bearing does still move but very stiffly. When I removed the pin on the other end I was able to waggle the ram around and it moved on the bearing not the pin. Not had a go at it today as it was peeing down but will have a go at it over the weekend.

    I am also a small player and sure there would be better prices if I could guarantee buying hundreds even thousands of tonnes per year but what can you do

    Sound advice there Jim. No washers but there is room for the ram to move side to side but it's firmly stuck to one side. Hows the new job?

    I would take that if nice clean ash. Had pretty mixed twisty stuff for £55 which has been a pain to process.

    It's been pretty good summer so far with many a dry sunny day and a complete absence of mud This morning we have torrential rain of the sort that may cause flooding and it's forecast for much of southern England so watch out all. 13mm so far this morning

    Going to give heating it a try. I only want to grease it for the time being so no need to remove the ram if I can get grease into the bearing. If this fails will give Fuelwood a call to double check on the pin design and then try and track down a hydraulic pin puller.

    To be honest you have lost me a bit there. I can check the diameters tomorrow with a vernier gauge. Don't see why this one should be different to the other end of the ram though. They certainly look the same but probably not safe to presume they are same as did not budge when hit.

    Dont see any evidence of welding. The other end looked the same and just drove out. It is slightly flared on one end as in pic 1

    If you look closely at the middle pic you can see the hole where the split pin was. Could there be something else? I removed the other end of the ram without any snags. Just removed pin and few sharp taps and out it popped.

    Did give it a few whacks but it didn't budge. 20mm drift and a sledge hammer . Had removed the retaining pin and no pressure on the ram. Didn't want to keep hitting it like that in case I rounded over the end of the pin and then it would never come out.

    That might be worth a go. Access is awkward so do think a hot air gun might work?

    Sadly no problem with the nipple as that would be a nice easy fix

    Picked up a forwarding trailer and crane some time back and I give the crane a good greasing when used; well so I thought. Was merrily pumping some grease into a hidden away nipple and as I removed the gun noticed the grease nipple was loose and the grease had just come out the back of it and not into the bearing. On close inspection with a torch I don't think any grease had got into the bearing since I got hold of it. I tried to drive out the pin to get the ram off to sort this but the pin will not budge. I can get the other end off the ram which looks the same so have taken a picture of that so can see what I am on about. Any bright ideas on how to get this working again or how to remove the pin without beating seven bells out of it? First two pics are the stuck pin and last one is of the other end of the ram which has the same bearing and greasing arrangement as the bunged up and stuck end. Thanks
