  1. OK fess up time. It's not a left hand thread. Got into my head is was but soon realised otherwise when it went in when drilling. Up side is an easy out has done the trick. CJ yep the flange does pull off. Had the machine 6 years and never discovered this. Putting it down to being a chilled Sunday and hope my brain engages again tomorrow. As for the reason for it sheering I really dont know. It was just doing some basic lawn cutting but it has been known for it to get abused when a brush cutter would be more appropriate. Anyway Job done with no more damage. Thanks
  2. Off to give that a go
  3. Lidl ones are great. Had a pair for a couple of years now for wood processing which is rough work and they are still fine.
  4. Not tried drilling yet as don't want push in further but may well give that a go The bolt is normally quite loose fit in the thread
  5. Hmmm not sure how to sort this out. Bolt has sheared off leaving the end in the drive shaft but using an easy out will only push it further in as left hand thread. How can I get the broken bit out? Thanks
  6. No it's made in Slovenia. Build quality and finish is top notch.
  7. Yes the Krpan does both pretty well. The detachable table is a bit too small and low but think this is case with all the models on the market. Soon fixed with a big block of wood and some steel plate. These are the others that were on my shortlist but the Thor was probably my second choice as it splits 120cm Thor magik 13 Posch AMR from Fuelwood) Titanium and Balfor from Riko.
  8. That was quick. Logs now sorted
  9. Had a call from someone out of our range wanting logs. If you sell in Plymouth give me a call and I will pass on their details. Beau 01822 852933
  10. I am going to follow the Doctor's advice Tom
  11. Not sure Tom. This thing on my face only popped up with my change of work to outside. Sun seems to be the likely cause.
  12. Good to bring this to our attention Until recently my work was predominantly indoor based but spent the last 3 years spending far more of my days working outside. We are up on Dartmoor which is about as cloudy as you get in England. Recently had to have an anomaly removed from my face. The Doc asked if I spent years abroad or holidayed in the sun which I have never done but even here the sun's rays can do their damage much to my surprise I might add. Now slap on the factor 40.
  13. Looks like it plus a bit of olive ash there in the middle. Nice board
  14. Got mine from MC Kingston off Ebay. Came well recommended on here.
  15. Care to explain why? What have you found that's better?
  16. A fair old gap then Tom. Probably best that way around than having too much carp in the load.
  17. Wanting to make up a screen for clearing all the little bits from the processor but not sure how far apart to put the rails. What do you reckon
  18. We buy the odd 25 litres can for around the farm. Lots of farm stores stock it now. Not tried the Creocote but heard others say it's not a patch on the original. Would have thought there is still a good market for it as to my knowledge nothing else comes close to original Creosote's preservative. Lots of folk still don't know it's back on the shelves.
  19. This chap thinks it's the bee's knees. Not recommended for those that find religion offensive [ame] [/ame]
  20. I would be impressed if their machine handled it. I am not impressed with straight wood going through machines as basically they can all do that. Awkward twisty stuff has been the reality of processing for me and those I process for bar the odd exceptional load.
  21. Best demo I saw at the last APF
  22. Just an observation from a couple of shows but I thought the Posch models were a bit slow. From videos the Tajfun looks way quicker. Sure you would have to sharpen the blades but that's 10-20 mins at the end of the day but if it saved a couple hours who cares. Problem with all demos is they are always processing gun barrel straight wood the likes of which I have never seen. Time is lost in the processing of less than perfect material. Amazed you guys have had such good experience with Wilsons. The Posch splitter was on my shortlist but they needed endless hasling to get back to me with info so gave up on them in the end.
  23. No more for most of the burn but I chucked a bit on about 30mins from the end to finish it off. Still not quite sure how best to do it but this looks like the best batch yet. Openspaceman mention quite high temperatures were good somewhere on here so we made sure the flames were fierce for the burn. The charcoal from this batch seem a bit harder than some of my slower cooked burns. Not cooked with yet though.
  24. Just a little update. Sales are slow but the retort still works fine. Did a batch yesterday and made a new short video. I am no Metsaman with a camera but you should get the idea of how it all works. [ame] [/ame]
  25. Fabricated steel John. It's probably 20 years old and still looks like new. Not used all the time though but honestly can't fault it.
