Exept for the big one. Tractors. Well exept jcb fastrac. And the new one they have out that doesn't look like a giant quad bike. So to say that we import machinery and say its like not buying British is a bit wrong IMO as there is not really another choice.

Yeah Im going to say that its import due to the uk not actually making it in country. Exept for jcb, and a make of hedge cutter that I can't remember. Another thing that was packed in in this country and moved abroad.
  3. Check the cables for wear or corrosion. If it hasn't been used in a while I bet they are crossed. Take the 7 pin plug apart and check they are not corroded inside. The plug is the place to start as they are always the first to go being the most exposed to weather. Check behind the lights at the back to make sure it's all ok there.
  4. You say you are relocating back to north Wales. Would this be a wise move for this career? Look into employment in the area you are in first. Location location location. To get started with a company look into possible areas to start off with. You will have some freedom when you leave to choose where you start. Unless you have a family set up in home town.

    Man vs food

Piece of cake my friend. It's all about practicing safe condiment.
  6. You may not have a choice as fitting stations need to follow the laws, if the law says no mud tyres then they are not allowed to fit them. And I wouldn't want to fit my own tyres as changing tyres on a tractor are one thing but when a vehicle goes above 30 and the wheels are not balanced it could get a bit hairy.
  7. Same advice I have seen before. Get basic tickets for starters and find a company to work for. Get a feel for what is done and how it's done. What is stated in books etc is not always the way it works on the ground, for putting boots on the ground most I have worked with have been three min, climber, brash dragger, and a groundie brash dragger with rescue ticket. This would be min for me. Take it your on the last year notice. Got a long way to go. Are you looking into climbing yourself? Don't forget tipper, chipper. Vital for this work if you are going for tree target specific. What else would you be looking into doing? Hedge cutting grass cutting, have to have something to do when to doing tree work.
  8. That was my thought about the wheat. Either you planted way early or you are in a different country to the rest of us. I miss driving the tractors at harvest. Would love to get back into it again. Plus I could bunny bash at the same time.
  9. Worn pump, or oil needs changing. Could also be control dial. Depends on what chipper. Please specify.

Farmer I used to work for lived on subs. His back garden backed onto a field and went down as set aside. Its all nuts and should be stopped, see who really can make a living of the land anymore.
  11. Is it going to be another un inforceable law. So how are the police going to be able to test to see if the tyres are over. With the power of eBay you could by mud tyres abroad and load them onto you rims!
  12. Must be if you are a member of a club or something. So just change to all terrain tyres. Make sure you get some really knobbly tyres. Or by as many mud tyres as you can now and keep them in the shed.....
  13. Pah. There is always a way around things like this and it will soon be used. So agri are exempt, well under forestry is the same as agri. So all trucks will soon me agri use on v5, have to stay off m ways but if you have mud tyres on would you really want to go motorway?
  14. My inability to talk to people. Mainly customers. Never know what to say to them or how to say it. They ask me a question my reply is to always ask the boss. I hate it when I get asked things on a job, the people I work with its ok as I work with them day in day out. I just go mute with other people. Strange but it's annoying. I just like to turn up get job done go home. I'm a very solice man and like to keep myself to my self when I can.

It's the likes of the cut price retailer that are doing it. One is farmfoods. Two 4 pinters for £1.50, this is well below anyone else. Yeah it looks good and people will buy it but little thought to who the milk comes from. I will always buy British if it helping the farmer. But then we have all seen it before when they advertise they are helping someone with a product then a few months later it's all over watchdog.
  16. I would look into a thinning out of the tree as it would never get the ok to fell unless its obvious and put into a report that it's going to fall over. Or die very shortly. As its been said you would make more money doing this than the fell. Time is money and by the sounds of it this job cold take a while to complete. Just ringing the trunk down will take a while, and that's with bloke hanging around waiting. Everyone gets it wrong now and again and it's a learning curve. Would I be right in saying this seems a bit out of your depth? Sorry if it's not but I have to wounder when people are asking others what they should be quoting for jobs? I can't remember a plumber coming to my house and asking me how much he should charge me for my work? Just an observation.

I get mine in January there on sale by then. Lol.
  18. I went out earlier. First time using throw line, it should be an Olympic event. I would agree and just walk along it. Lol
  19. Argh that's disgusting. The smell makes me feel sick. The other half eats it all the time and I have to sit in the garden. She uses lamb liver. But any will do. Fry the oinions first until brown, then add the liver And bacon fry until it lightens in colour, add the gravy mix last and allow to simmer until hot. Serve and enjoy. Or throw up in the toilet in my case.
  20. Just got back from a climb tonight. Couldn't stop myself very (un)gracefully swinging around the tree like a chimp on speed. Good climb, went up about 15m hung around a bit, had a fag, enjoyed the view then came down and went up again. Didn't change over or move from the line. Just enjoyed myself. Can see why so many do it. Coming down was the fun part, swung out then came down a bit fast and ended up surfing on my knees along the ground before the line pulled me back and slammend me into the tree. It didn't hurt (I say with water in my eyes) Does anyone else get disco legs after a climb? My left leg won't stop shaking....

And the goods they brought cheap. Would anyone actually notice an increase in price on the shelf if hey did? But then would the extra really go to farmers?

    Milk it

Skyhuck, what I mean is we all know the argument about farmers pleading poverty and they all drive nice new cars, but it's actually a bit of a minority and with them diversifying they would make very little. The big earners in agriculture are arable farmers, dairy and meat farmers make very little. So if the dairy farmers quit and move on what is next?

    Milk it

Same as arbs driving big cars and nice new machines and tractors saying there no money in it. I know what your saying but not that interested in who makes what, just the fair price part. The co op started fair trade sruff for cocoa beans, and coffee, so why can't they for milk?

    Milk it

But if the milk costs more to produce than what they are getting paid no amount of subsidies from gov would help. Same as if the fuel and oil used in saws costs more than a job is worth. We wouldn't be going for very long.

So went to supermarket today and they are blockading them with tractors, also I've seen them doing it at wiseman dairies. I agree that the price payed needs to be kept up as they have to make a living. Right or wrong? If anyone even cares. Discuss
