  1. Not sure, but you never know what they used to do 20 odd years ago.
  2. Yeah about on those lines. I have a usuall costumer that I don't charge labour only parts, he helped me a lot to set up when I first started and gave me work on the tree side ( how I got into tree work in the first place) I like to think that I have got a good setup now with the mobile part just taking off with the Landy and a workshop to work in. Just had a call out on a defender, mate of mine and he said that he just cleaned all the mud off his and he noticed a "bit hanging off the back" had to laugh. Support strut for rear axle bolt had sheared off. Don't think I can get it on the bench tho lol
  3. Sound like proper you know what's. If there is debris in th cylinder it will knacker the cylinder right up, score the lining loose compressiona all that stuff. Would look into getting someone over to look into it in the future. Someone you can trust to get it done right. Hate the French and always will, just me. Garages are a mind field whatever country you are in but if you find that one good one then stick with them.
  4. I actually stopped doing services on mowers as it was always a pain. Might start again just to stop me getting on her nerves being in the house. God knows how many shears I've done, know one knows how to use a file anymore, there are a few bits to do but they are call outs on chippers but they are engine service or blade changes. Had a Greenmech that was slamming the back of a truck on Friday, ram had gone on the hitch, 80 quid for a ram and it was a 5 min job. There is my other problem how do I charge for a job that only takes 5 mins, I have always struggled to charge a suitable amount for a really small pathetic job that takes me longer to get out the van than do the job or longer to get it in the workshop.......
  5. Yeah good luck with that. You got more info on make and model, eBay do carbide coated chains but nothing on curved bars. You got a size or the old maker name?
  6. That's not overloaded, plus the police have to know what they are talking about first, and it's way too much paperwork for them to bother with anyway.
  7. Still think sthil would make more money if they followed in the footsteps of Pirelli and the likes with there calendars, only problem I would not get out the workshop. Oh yeah I don't anyway.lol
  8. Depends on what they used to treat the wood with, I know creosote has now been changed to a substitute as it is toxic to wildlife, if they are years old then it would have been treated with something that now would be banned, I know pallets can't burn as they give off poisons gas. Advertise it as it is and see what happens. Now there are smoke controlled zones you don't want the enviro cops knocking on your door.
  9. Oh and make sure you have a good mechanic that knows Hondas well so they can fix easy if it goes wrong.lol
  10. Hondas are a renowned for there reliability, but being that much mileage would be look with caution, a test drive is always good any strange noises don't bother, make sure the engine temp gets up and then listen, also the usual rust on chassis and under body is good. Depends on previous owners driving aswell if it was ragged like stink it will sound rough and not worth it, it was dRiven by a granny then it will be a slow engine, I like Hondas mowers and quads but don't like there cars.
  11. Yeah it was more luck I think, the coil is always the first place I go as they are easy to test, the kill switch is the next stop, be it a switch or contact on the trigger. This one was a bit far to go for a problem but after feeling the flywheel magnets with a screw driver compared to other flywheels it felt week, told it was a 99.9% chance it was something else.
  12. Bench is clear, first time I can remember seeing the bench top since it went in, must be doing something right as no saws have come back, have to be carefully soon I wont have a job as no saws to fix means no money coming in. Oh well there's always the quad bikes to fix, but then it's mowing season soon so should be able to fill bench with mower parts again lol
  13. 088 would not run the other day and no spark, so check the coil and that was fine. Read that it's a chance on flywheel so after some thought and contact with customer decided that flywheel was best option. Low and behold new one on and away she went. Must be the .1% person to get it so everyone is safe for another year. Lol Thanks to honey brothers for giving me a discount on the flywheel, customer had a heart attack when I told him the price of a new one. Lol
  14. Still keeping an eye out. Greenmech are easy to spot. Any more info you can give, numbers markings, or damage that was done to it when you had it? Anything that can identify it from the others out there, I've not seen much greenmechs my way but always get the odd van with a tow hitch ask if I want to buy some saws when on a job.
  15. I got given a garden tec saw, made in china and hasn't faulterd yet, 18 inch bar, 52cc engine, funny thing is it is shaped like a sthil but green, wondering if they have copied the design but changed a few things here and there, when I got the saw the mate said he got it for 50 quid but found the bar too long for cutting his own timber for his fire. A lot of products made are made in the same factory as the cheep stuff, just have a dif sticker at the end.
  16. Ha I would always choose greenmec over anything any day, the 220 we have has not faulterd since we got it exempt for new blades.
  17. Hahaha didn't see that. Using an iPad and it has autocorrect or as I call it I'm going to write what the hell I like and not what your typing correct. Lol
  18. Ok, so the impulse line was blocked and was not connected to the crank case. Don't know how it passed a test. New carb is on and the saw is running perfectly. The old carb won't hold on Rickover tho, new seals fitted, bit not worried as I have the new one. Thanks for the help.
  19. Lost my last job coz a climber just threw from a tree without looking or calling, branch hit me so called him down and exchanged fists, bosses nefew or some crap like that so I got sacked and he carried on climbing. Never be in that situation again. I work ground crew and don't climb, my job is looking after the chipper making sure only wood goes in it and maintaining saws vehicles etc. shoulder still hurts in cold weather now.
  20. Will have a look tomoz, sitting down waiting for my tea now
  21. Good work is hard to find but good workers is even harder. It's a rookie mistake to leave anything in a drop zone, make him fix the saw, you get the parts but he fixes it, should be a reminder not to leave it again, after he has sworn at the control levers for a bit he will remember it. I would see the climber aswell, vigilance is everyone's responsability it could have been the newbies head far enough but what if it was private garden and it was the customers head???????? Everyone knows how they like to get in the way when they bring the tea and bickies out lol
  22. Ok I will get on that tomoz, having a lazy day today, it's the last thing I can do to test this saw before it gets stripped into parts and boxed.
  23. Tried and tested, replaced line from another 260 That was spares, The filter is clean as it always is. Were is the impulse Line? Is it the part under the carb that goes down to the case? Didn't even think about that part?
  24. Ok so I got my 260 running problem, got a new carb and still same problem I have tried everything, compression good, vacuum good, seals good, carb is brand new, but it is not drawing the fuel up, if I put fuel straight to carb it runs fine until that runs out then it dies and that's it, if I put pressure into the tank to push fuel up to carb It will run but then run out when the pressure drops. The tank vent is also good as it is from a working saw. Am I missing something, the problem before is the same as it is now, hence why I changed th carb for a new one as I'm fed up with carbs always being a problem and trying to fix them with new seals etc.
