  1. Not sure how you can say that one. Everyone has to start somewhere. My first lifting was trees, scared the crap outta me, but the cutters new this as I told them and made sure to pay extra attention with me. CPCS is there for a reason but they don't really teach you trees. All machines are dangerous hence the stickers they are plastered with. All the best and don't forget that any damage caused to the machine is down to the customer lol.
  2. Let me know what you can find, I've got 3 spares that customers left with me due to carb problems and they didn't want them anymore. Can break one down for you, will comp test them just to make sure one will be ok for you.
  3. Land rover shocks this morn, then a qualcast blade to sharpen, then 2 flymo one 2stroke one 4 stroke! Then a 020 new plug as no spark runs like a dream and I finished on a sthil hedge cutter with a broken fuel tank, had a spare in the parts bin. Overall a busy day but now I'm sitting down having a cuppa before the next tools come in.
  4. Why not, what is stopping you. They would be agri so that would be seen as tech off road, you could only take them a radius away from the home base. Free tax no mot, cheep agri ins. Don't see why not unless you take them up a m way, that is forbidden unless with an exempt ticket from highways, verge cutting etc.
  5. Used both screw and ram and I prefer the ram by far. Also the variety of the ram is it can be towed around on e back of a wagon or quad, got one that had a 3hp engine on it but found it not to be man enough so swapped it for a 5hp Honda engine. Also found that you could disconnect the hydraulics from the engine and attach to a tractor spool valves. The screw type had me a bit worried also found it can split wood and make a mess, not so good when you want to net bag. Also constantly waiting for a ring to spin over and crush my hand, so it was not comfy to split with for me.
  6. Yeah that always works. Especially whethe tractor slams the anchors on as we don't want to kills some prat in a car, tractors stop quick when you literally jump on the brakes. Car slowed even more and there was no way the combine would have stopped as quick as the car, hydrostatic gearboxes don't have engine braking, and the brakes are not good on them as they don't really need them in a field so they never get used. Or changed for that matter. Plus 20+ tons of metal plastic and rubber don't like stopping in a hurry. Let's face It there is no excuse for speeding, or acting like a prat. A saying that comes to mind is, I have never had an accident but seen plenty in the mirror.
  7. I would like people to say if I post anything that Is incorrect, I like to know what is right and wrong. If I'm wrong then so be it, correct it and move on, it's all about learning and we never stop doing that. Not sure about who is lurking in the dark reading about equipment as there are no actual addresses to go on don't see how people can find out we're you are to nick it? If I post a remark at someone it is purely meant as kidding around but if they don't take it that way then I would appolagise and move on. Banter always happens and always will, if You muck up working depending on what it was you will get ribbed for it we all done it and all will. From what I have seen the forum looks busy as there is always something postd when I hit th today's post button.
  8. Was going to revive an old post on this but now it's nearly a year has anyone changed there minds and would you go for the 201, or is it now a case of you have to ad the 200 is gone?
  9. Last quote for 200t carb I had was 85 plus vat. It is easier to replace carb, good luck finding any 020 carbs about, if you got them keep them. Was told that an a type carb is the best to find as they have less chance to fail but not sure how accurate that is as I have never seen an a type carb. Think I will look into the 201 see if they are any good now it's been nearly a year.
  10. Would be nice to have 3.50 let alone 350,000
  11. Someone is telling porkies to him then.
  12. It's got shinny things on it.....
  13. If they get the right tree in the first place. Had a tpo on a beach tree in a garden. Well I couldn't see it, saw a big old ash that was being topped but no beach. Called them up and said its the wrong tree, there reply was if it isn't the beach tree do what you want to it........ Didn't even come out and look.
  14. He cuts the tree then runs like the hare LMFAO. Only kidding ya, think it looks ok, so is this going to be on cards or work vans. Think it could be hard to make out when on a small card..... How are you putting company name on it? If you are
  15. That too. If its to maintain a wood you only need to apply for license for the dangerouse trees, over roads or paths. If its wind blown its fine or just rotted and fallen its also fine, can "thin out" species if they are not native to area or causing native trees to fall back and out grow them. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I like to get it right, but I'm sure it's how it works with wood land. Also there is something in my head that is saying about leaving the brush in piles for conservation for a period of time for Eco system or some crap like that. Wildlife stuff with birds and what not.....
  16. Scrap that it's 250,000 mate had to sort out his inherentance short time ago, that what he got told. I should be safe as my family are porpers. Lol
  17. Wow learn something new every day, looks like you should look for the grey area, the other thing is that if they have been removed and chipped how are they going to know they are 75mm at 1.5m height, can't glue the chipping back together to find out. Lol
  18. Good lord I go take the boy to the docs, come back and this thread has gone mad.
  19. I have driven tractors and combines for years, the amount of people that would over take on blind corners or get right up behind you is unbelievable. Nearly squashed a car between tractor and combine as he thought he could pass but didn't make so had to pull inbetween us the tractor had braked as he saw what was happening so the combine had to brake aswell. After driving a tractor with a trailer with 15 tons or more of wheat in the back you really appreciate stopping distance especially when trailer pushes you down hill.
  20. And what happens if they refuse to do this, they end up loosing benefits? Then it's back to the crime talk! Can't put them in prison they would only get community service anyway.....
  21. Try steel cable, a bit more money wise but will choke better and easier to put away and carry than chain.
  22. If he is felling trees is there conservation orders on trees in that wood, he could get in seriouse doodoo if there are. Best to leave it and see what happens, could wait til he gets bored then drop a letter into his door offering your services to keep the wood maintained in exchange for timber from said wood?
  23. Could imagine the smile on there faces. You would be looked at as a big fat bonus.
  24. Would be a thought to see something like that here, give you so long like 6 months if you haven't done anything by then then it gets cut down. Force work.
