  1. So much support for jumping from a plane. Lol Get the details and I would sponsor.
  2. Ok so arbiculture has to be a relatively new word, to understand the meaning you have to know the history. Around 100 years ago did we have tree surgeons? Maybe but not to the extent we have today, when villages were smaller and roads non existent, did we have a huge need for trees to be cut down? Or even "maintained" as there was no reason? I have not a lot of knowledge on this but I feel to know what something means you have to know how it was started, the need for timber for fuel was huge "industrial revolution" so trees were simply cut down and burnt, any type any size. So when was the arborist born and who decided what they can do? Did the need for us come because houses were built near trees or trees planted near houses?
  3. What's wrong with it? Thought about rebuild?

    stihl 084av

Seem to use the 088 once every two years. Last time I took it out the flywheel was knackerd and had to get a new one before that the nylon gear for oil had gone so that was a new one. Can't wait to see what else has gone next time, put. A shorter bar on it so I could at least use it for big logs, still not used it yet tho.
  5. Had winter sickness bug last year, puked from 1am to 4am, got up at 6 went to tree job, didn't eat all day just plenty of water, got home and ate like a pig. Nighttime is for illness, same as real men don't wear pink. Sometimes it's easier to push through it put plan so you don't do something that can effect other people, like climbing when you are on day nurse to some other drug that imparts you thinking, the label on bottles is good like do not operate heavy machinery while taking this medicine. If it is going to be a safety issue it is best to stay in bed. Better that than a hurt worker because your mind is elsewere
  6. No tools left in in this vehicle overnight.....
  7. Had a lazer guide on a mitre saw I had, damn thing moved and my cuts were off, don't like it, it's a gimmick to get you to by a saw. It's the shiny thing again
  8. Agreed, help should be there for people that need it. I found with self employment the same thing, no help. It's the work shy that get me.

    snow

Woke up to 4 inches in Dover, guess logging can wait for a bit.
  11. Might have a diesel for these for Osage soon, got to see about picking it up next week, will find out what state it is in and put it in the for sale section. Just the engine not a whole Landy.

    Nothing in dover
  13. Speke for yourself, nothing I like more than having a cuddle with the tree after I have cut it up, nice to erasure it.
  14. Anything to stop my feet from feeling like I'm going to leave my ties in my boots when I take them off, sure that was what was going to happen tonight.
  15. Yeah deliver to your address so they can see what you got, then you will find the chipper gone aswell as all your other gear, along with your bank account. I'm convinced now.
  16. Ha done one a short while ago. Luckily I have a pit but it's still a pain to get new one in, take careful note how you take old one off and reverse it for new one, have to twist and pull with a bit of grunt, the downpipe hits the engine going back on and it needs some persuasion to move it into place. Other than that it is straight forward and easy to do for a DIYer.
  17. New or old as you will still get taught the same as everyone else, they will still make you sharpen it. Clean it and go through the proceedurs on it.
  18. Cliffs and rock faces, I dont actually climb trees, leave that for other climber, cliffs are more fun. Must be a tree surgeon thing, if it's vertical we want to go up it. Lol
  19. As far as I can remember containers dont need planning as they are moveable storage units, and only if they are close to a road, something like 3m,had all this when set up a yard, neighbour didn't like it so had an endless wave of jobs worth coming in. Made them all a tea and sat down all civil like to talk about it, they saw how it was all planned through and came up with a few suggestions about a hedgerow to keep curtain twitcher happy. The use of land may become an issue if there are oil waste patches but being a timber yard it should be environmentally happy. I hate neighbours and I wish that my nearest one was ten or more miles away from me.
  20. Used to get a major rollicking for putting stickers on my hard hat an building sites, something to do with the visibility. Dont suppose it matters with chainsaw helmets. Not sure about a huge limb stopping going into my head by a bit of plastic anyway. Stickers are fine but look for waterbased,.
  21. If you are using logs yourself and not selling then a processor will not pay for itself, not directly, might pay on heating bill but not so you would justify it. There would be no immediate return on buying processor, bet to buy saw another horse or operator, try to see if there is a way in the setup you have that would make production easier. Either by method or layout. Would another worker who can split/sort the timber they don't have to be trained to do this job so saves more on someone with tickets. IMO you would be throwing money into something that would be a waste.
  22. I feel really sorry to say this but I've got a gardentec green 52cc 18inch bar, got it from netto when they were around, copy of a stihl in shape, and I'm actually impressed, cost me 50 quid, use it for the rough cutting when I don't want a stihl to get knackerd. The one thing I found was the break handle was touchy, not thats a bad thing, it would engage at the slightest touch. Runs good and revs fairly high. Even had a big limb drop on it, bent the handle a bit but still ok. Some are good buys and I'm waiting for the kicks after posting this, I actually like the saw and if it breaks for the money I will just throw it away. Oh and it has the same chain as an ms260 so new chain no problem. Sorry people but I had to put this out there.
  23. That's cool, you never know.
