  1. Hi Tony, been using the trailer a year now and not had a problem, compacting occurs if left in but has not stuck to sides Can honestly say other than dust sticking when wet, never struggled with any chip...... don't know if tipping height/volume/type of chip (bandit 150) plays a part. Steve
  2. Hi David, I just ground the mesh off, then cut the plate to the frame size and speed bolted them. The roof frame lifts off. The side disassembles as normal. Steve
  3. Hi Grey git, back axle is down a dip, but also that is a lot of mettle.... the under-run bar doesn't normaly sit on the deck! Steven
  4. thank you, kind sir! Steve
  5. Look great on the back of my mog!!!
  6. Just been on site clearance some 50 miles from base with a 12" machine and charged £300.00 p/day. With fuel for tow vehicle, fuel for chipper & site owners trying to do three days work in 2 days....I should have stayed at home! wear & tear on machine is not worth it. Very much thinking that my 'own use' in the future, on priced jobs I just get finished quicker, fuel limited to spurts of use, limited abuse..... leave 'renting' out to the hire companies! Steve
  7. Wondering if is running on red, with no hgv licence, without a tacho, more tham 50kms from home and doing domestic stunts:001_smile:
  8. Sounds like you and I beat the same drum!!! I wonder how many persons operating in so called 'grey areas' would drive past or near vosa/customs & excise check points? Weights/fuel/licence/uses we seem to see and hear it all, maybe we should now say if you realy believe what you are saying then stick your reg number on the post. Steve (not intending to upset the guys who have gone to lengths to get it right).
  9. I take it you don't like them then! Steve
  10. Not quite certain as to the 'grey area' there does seem to be a lot of moving goal post to fit the uses of it!... Grey does not feature with Vosa, who I think is not beyond reading the antics of what 'we' own upto on forums. Ps; I do agree with you, just get a double-drive, cement mixer & tipper use them off road with great success. Steve
  11. Yep! but if he gets trucks it would also be true..... Steve
  12. If your Mogs are on an 'O' licence then this must be displayed in the window. If the mog is over 7490 kgs & not ag then it is HGV and would be subject to LEZ (Also the driver would need HGV licence) These things should be known by user & operators. (I take it you are saying your mogs are used for Ag only?) The original thread was comparison between HGV trucks, and Mogs for non ag use, this would would make the mog subject to LEZ. Steve
  13. Has a Unimog owner and previously a truck owner (lots of them) I am struggling to see why its more expensive to run a Mog. Yes if all you have run before is a 4x4/car/van/tractor then yes. you are in for a shock. Trucks can rack up the bills! London LEZ means you will have to spend a decent amount for a newish Unimog, mine won't cut it at a 51 plate. Sounds exciting your new project, good luck. Steve

Along with Vosa and every other agency! Why wouldn't they be? All the free leads and information and 'grey areas' that are operated in! Steve
  16. Really sorry that this has happened, there but the grace of.... go the rest of us. The method of returning for the replacements is very common. Within equestrian, the theives wait untill the insurance/parents replace saddles etc then go back for a batch of new. Maybe we should 'camp' at a scene and give them a party on their return trip! Again sorry to hear of the theft.
  17. If you want to work local then tractor for arb works ok, but some days I can do 300km in the mog.... Running cost in the same range has a small truck 7.5/11 tons. (thats a fact!) If you buy a clunker the you have no one to blame but yourself, same rule has a truck. Lots of people claiming the expense of running one, just the same has any larger vehicle. Have them serviced properly, repaired correctly, carry out duty of care, do preventitive maintenance. The reason for regs on operating licences connected with trucks is 'can you show that you can afford to operate that vehicle' (ie; money put aside, maintenance contract in place etc). Treat you mog has the above. If you go out as a haulage contractor and buy a 'clapped out' truck for your business it wouldn't be good practice. I read on here lots looking at bottom end mogs. mogs that have historical issues. Then we have a list of expensive repairs! You generally get what you pay for. If you are not in a position to buy one, don't get it! doesn't matter if its a landrover/scania/or mog.
  18. Thanks that it wasn't a large bandit!!!:
  19. I'm on 07813 041752 if the Husky fails! Steve
  20. Come on down! We can do a little pan-handling... may find a michelin or conti, who knows!!! Steve:thumbup:
  21. Might wonder down on Sat to have a wee-peek. Thanks for the map.... Steve
  22. Hi Andy, sorry to hear about your VISITORS in the night..... Can you manage without the saw, do you need a loner whilst you sought it? I'm in Hathersage but work in Sheff as well. Give me a call/p.m if you need. Steve
  23. Is there any milage in wondering down, or is it just scrap stuff, what's your thoughts? I'm based in Sheffield with a 1550L. Steve
  24. I've read through most of these threads on this and for other items we use..... There seems to be too much trying to circumventing/avoiding ether through ignorance or suitability..... Take the tests, get the licences, operate on white, lets make make costings fair & equal! Sorry guys... if its weight, fuel, rebates, just get on with it! Why should your margins be any different from others.... If it an age thing then I'm jealous, your turn will come.
  25. Not moaning and its still expensive! Steve
