  1. Ask Dean at Global Newark...... they will have or certainly know. Steve
  2. Nice to see sadness extends South as well........ I can lend you some 'Diamond White' once I've finished using it!!!!
  3. Pictures like that are pure-filth and should be on the top shelf. then only viewed by the insanely jealous!!!! ....nice machines Steve (the insane jealous one)
  4. Hi Simonm I have a 150xp, although an older one it just keeps on going. I use it for everything from domestic to site work. Its big, heavy, but easy with a long drawbar to back and deal with. Can spin it by hand on solid surface. The winch on a bandit is brilliant, not just dragging wood but dragging Bandit when necessary. If you intend to chip into a l/rover or towing vehicle with a small capacity back (4x4) then bring a big brush!.... The only down side is the fact that Dean Embling offers his clients so much for their second-hand ones I still cannot afford another.....though not quite certain what a newer one would accomplish. Steve
  5. Worked great fo me.... though wasn't expecting the guys to work, eat, sleep in London. When I used to live in London the price was high for getting services/trades to work..... so struggling to compare the gaps!
  6. I agree, we are a unique bunch!
  7. I take it you are asking about cost versus definition! Just like any vehicle dependant on all factors, cost of the vehicle varies so much which is the single biggest difference. No claimes bonus on a commercial policy can reduce quite a major amount..... not as easy as comparing like for like. Mine is £1500 per year, but I have 3 policies running. Road/working/working on non-arb work. Based on an oldie driver, class 1 HGV, full no-claims (on a truck policy) owner driver. £500 vol excess. Alarmed/imobilised....... Little Steven
  8. Hi Tom, be a tad careful on the registered class of intended mog. Ag & Hgv/goods on the log book req very different approaches. The latter requiring a lot more than just driving.... (Hgv licence, 'o' license and the whole nine yards) Secondly, don't forget using a Ag vehicle for non-ag work will eventualy lead to possible upset, commonly referred to a 'grey area'! Vosa won't be sympathetic and are not good with colors, running the above on tractor concessions and doing tree work away from forestry will be frowned apon. I know and see it is done by peoples own admissions. I marvel at bravery. Insurance assesors will know every scenario should disaster occur, so if you are going pay for insurance its a nice to know it has a happy ending. Nice to see you are trying to get it right before the event.
  9. Just a note of thank you to all who replied to my request of help. I've spoken to some great guys and have in fact already been using their skills. If anybody still gets in touch I will acknowledge them, but I'm realy now sorted. Kind regards Little Steven
  10. Hi Tom, thank you for recommend..... I 'm not sure what will happen when I stop taking the anabolic tablets!!!! Its getting busy here in the 'sticks' Steve
  11. Hi Guys & Gals! I am looking for a self employed mature climber to work in and around Sheffield and the Hope Valley. The ideal person needs be competent with trailers. Rigging & lowering is a must. At the moment I need help on a job-by-job basis, though it is on the up! Please P.M me with contact details and I will call you back! Little Steven
  12. Hi treefrog, Please see Treequips correction on the weights/testing requirements. My Mewp is 9000kgs and the test req is not the same. Steve
  13. Hi treequip... I stand correctd, the Landrover version would come in under 3500kg, whereas my Unimog is clearly not. Steve
  14. Hi there! The insurance should not be a problem.... my Mog mewp runs on two policies, one road use and the second work. I do have a third policy on it for access work for other trades builders/roofers/electricians. LSE Insurance set up the policy JCB/NIG are the underwriters. It its reg as a tower crane then no mot is req & you can run on red. If you want to tow a trailer with it then its white derv and the trailer can only be inline with the work of the mewp ie; not a tipper for chip or flat with tracked chipper on it. The loler is simple, they come in (Access, Chesterfield) go through the mewp side, mountings to vehicle, battery system. pass/fail/work to be done. For that its £300 every six months. Steve
  15. First started with saws didn't have brakes and also used them left-handed.... Now, once I had schooling I find the that its auto that the brake is applied and seems odd using it left-handed.... Its easy to get used to good or bad habits.... You should get used to applying the brake on any foot (even rebalancing) movement. I personly don't hold with the idea that the brake is only for kick-back purposes. If you are going to the trouble and expense of PPE kit then the brake is realy just part of that mind set. Steve
  16. When you are has challanged as me, anything over 6" is deep!!! Steve
  17. Hi There! just got the NGM Explorer.... it makes some of the other tough look not-so-tough! Not that you would, but which other phones could you bang a nail into wood with using the screen. Steve
  18. Hi there! give me a ring on 07813 041752, I know of a little work..... We met down in Hathersage. Steve
  19. Hi Guys! Well eventually made it down to the poor burnt out mog. The vultures have already been and what didn't melt has been duly picked. The mog is recoverable, but you would need to realy want the undercarrage to realise any value. All the tyres are up, but tread is low on them. The spare has been torched. There is a new bulldozed roadway next to the mog now, this has been done has the site as been passed for future work. (all trees have been felled and brash is around the mog) The road way infront of the mog is concrete and is stable, the mog just needs a couple of good spades for an hour, its not bellied. Apparently a local recovery turned up with a 3.5ton and could not move it.... I reckon the 20k ramsey on mine with a snatch would do it! If approached from the Scout Camp you can drive up the side, though it would have to be recovered from the Raycoal side other wise there is a large drainage stream to cross. Steve
  20. Based on what we are reading, I doubt if they would realise we weren't there!
  21. Hi there! thanks to all on this one who have done the research/homework.... As a Mewp owner with 39 & Mewp, but not 47. Steve
  22. I likewise use a rear handled versions from my bucket.... I do have hydraulic, but don't often use. I'm happy with the 39/mewp ticket variant. Steve
  23. Ok! but where did the rear axle p/shaft endup?
  24. Had a couple on here do the same! ...... If you see fit to warn off or book someone for work, then have the common decency to keep them informed of an ongoing situation. We all understand jobs that work gets cancelled, but the avoidance of answering calls makes it look a lot like were in a last minute price auction..... Steve
  25. I have various things with these guys..... awful are my thoughts about them. Nov last year they took £3600 from my account (recovered it through bank that night) because they couldn't find the regular payments in there own account. Last week they threatened action, again because they couldn't find money that had been sent monthly. If I wasn't tied in to them, I would be off elsewhere:thumbdown:
