  1. Think these adverts have as much negative persuasion as positive!.... Not overly concerned one way or another, though I certainly respect others thoughts. A bit like life in general, there will be aspects we all don't like.... I tend to keep myself away from the elements that bother me. Not certain that trying to change others is feasible or even right.
  2. Hey Steve....my dad in the 60's used to turn off the t.v. when 'playtex 18hr girdle' advert came on. I'm glad he saved me from them early days of smut. Otherwise what kind of person I may have been:001_smile:
  3. Yes, guilty has charged, so as a punishment you can show off to my client tomorrow whilst reducing them, there trees. .....
  4. Hey Paul, you know me too well, caring to the last..... and most importantly, as you saw this afternoon, like to leave a work place tidy!
  5. I agree absolutely!!! suppose you could hose him down the nearest drain.... after asking his mum of course!
  6. Hi Shaun! sorry to hear the news......... Keep in touch. Little Steve
  7. Hi Ben, Unimogs are much like other assets, you need to invest heavily, to a certain extent the more you can commit the better. To which is the best, obviously its what suits and fits your business module. Little Steven
  8. I know before anyone has a fit, you can get 817, 823 etc, but these are not bonneted and if they are then special order.
  9. Hi Peter, thinking back, the model & engine size ended with a 'D' if it was bonneted ie; 814d been bonneted & 814 been flat (tilt cab)..... The 814d been the biggest, now used for small buses and large vans. Ether way, tipper body, hiab, or pretty anything will decimate any payload as mentioned earlier. Steve
  10. Certainly not a high speed tow, so limited to application from tow vehicles.
  11. I have lots of kit that had purpose and were a good idea when purchased.... Sorry to say this will not be joining them! Steve
  12. It really depends on what what/why it was spec as a small engined auto. I wouldn't rush into changing the auto box.... If you have the cash to alter it and it bothers you, then look for another suitable truck. Coming from a truck background, do struggle with issues that others have with auto. From emergency services to utilities and most trucking companies auto's are up to it and beyond. Sometimes wonder if it because its not 'normal' in some eyes and not really certain how to deal with issues thrown up. More inclined to see if you could marry the auto box to a larger engine! Steve
  13. Its only the dirt & mud that holds it together:001_tt2: oh and copious amounts of chip!
  14. I suppose once dirty, freezing, water starts come out of the tacho, you realise that you have taken on a bit much! Oh and that sinking feeling very low down in your stomach...... Joking aside, I hope the guys can recover & be back working, with all the profit from a tree business that won't be forgotten!!!
  15. Maybe the companys that sell horse rugs also sponsor it!
  16. Once you've bought them expensive tyres, then a inexpensive shovel is next. Closely followed by a couple of very powerful tractors!!!
  17. Tyres will go a long way to help.... as will a little weight. Coupled with a little positive speed, oh and closed eyes I find helpful in certain situations. Any trailer will act as a ground anchor. Steve
  18. Yes the engine is sitting high..... its only for a bit of x cutting. I didn't make it, theres a go who put vintage saws/ mills etc together in Ashbourn. Its a 'stenner & gunn table with a rushton 10hp diesel.
  19. Come on T.M. don't be shy.... you got us all excited!!!
  20. Hi Andy things have changed, we are safer now:001_tt2: Have a good New Year!
  21. Have to say also.... I buy the food & drink! Before you all think I'm soft and such like, think about it. I control when, where, how long for....so whats £20 between a team including me. Soon make that with a motivated, happy, though a little fat team!!
  22. Hi Ben, this is where I'm going wrong..... I'm the worst, breakfast rolls & coffee on route, non-stop coffee whilst there. I make as much coffee & tea has they can drink. Never had to encourage speed of work, never had any worries of asking a bit more, its just happens. Got to say any losses are far outweighed by the gains. Also pay good money! There are few on here who i have shared many mugs, sarnies, & brunches. If I wanted a job that made me lots of money this would not be it, I wanted one that I enjoyed doing with likeminded people. Little Steve
  23. Bedford MK quite a different animal... more usable, power steering/decent turn of speed. great for advertising, like already said they will have plenty of time to read your details. If you want it anything but 'private hgv' then all rules governing commercial hgv will likely apply if you are doing domestic work then there are no concessions.
