  1. Thank you all for the advice. I wouldn't want a shiney flue going up the front of the house, would want it all hidden internally as much as is reasonably possible. The burner would only be to heat the living room rather than wanting it to warm the whole house in place of a central heating system. Basically swap out the gas fire for a woodburner and still have central heating and water running off the boiler. But if it's a case of costing several thousand I'd be having second thoughts over getting a house without a chimney. I could stomach a couple of grand all in but much more than that and it's a none starter. arboriculturist - that system is basically constructing a more traditonal style chimney within the property if I'm looking at it right? Sounds like a lot of knocking the house around to get that in which is going to mean it's expensive on top of the cost of buying the actual product itself.
  2. Where does the flue go when there's no chimney to put it down?
  3. Starting to look at buying a house and will be wanting a woodburner fitting seen as it'll be a bit of free heating for us. How complicated is it to have a woodburner fitted in a newer house that currently has a gas fire place but not a traditional chimney breast? Pictures attached for an example of the kind of thing I've been looking at. There's no visible chimney stack externally, there's something up there that I'm guessing is related to the gas fire. Is it a big job to get a woodburner fitted in a house like shown?
  4. Got a Speck CandyShell military grade case on mine. Not very bulky like some of the others on offer so fits in my pocket easily but it still gives really good protection and the phone feels nice and slim to hold.
  5. Old Landy and new one. A lot nicer to drive than that 110 HiCap we had on loan and I can get the seat in a bearable position too
  6. If I could only deal in Ash I would! So easy to split. Only ever felled it in winter but it always seems so much drier in appearance than any other wood I deal with.
  7. Has the 560xp had the plastic parts hydro dipped? Good way to stop scuffs and scrapes I guess!
  8. I've got a Nilfisk as well. Better value for money than the Karcher equivalent when I was looking earlier this year. I've got an E140.2-9 S X-TRA which I think has now been replaced by the E140.3-9. Cleaned a lot of patios/concrete and even timber decking with it for people using the patio cleaning head. Been spot on. Got it from this place http://www.brownspressurewashers.co.uk/ but through their eBay site. There was a petrol pressure washer for sale at Aldi 2 or 3 weeks ago, came with a 3 year warranty I think. Seemed good value for the price and a bit more mobile with not having to have electric to power it. Don't know if it was any good though
  9. All still going well mate?
  10. Is Husqvarna XP oil up to scratch for using in Dolmars? Doesn't really tell you much in the spec on the Husqvarna website
  11. Did I read right in another thread about Dolmars that you're best off putting a certain 2 stroke oil in? Would Husky XP not be ok? Think it was a thread where someones Dolmar had seized/was knackered.
  12. Been a few threads on here recently about saw benches, here's a couple of them. I've got the Riko saw bench http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/78812-worth-buying-pto-saw-bench-2.html#post1175410 http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/78975-logging-saw-bench.html
  13. But would you pay Dean more for the raw product wood than he could sell it for as firewood?
  14. The price they gave me included the PTO shaft and the wheels come as standard. My Balfor saw bench from Riko feels strong enough. I think the advantage of the Balfor not having a full enclosed cradle like the Oxdale is you can put larger timber through. It can cut through a 12" log in one pass. I put the loader tractor with bucket on next to the saw bench so the logs drop straight in then tip them next to my log splitter
  15. Just waiting for it to start. Have a few customers that stock up between May and August. Goes quiet for September and October then phone starts ringing in November when it's cold dark and wet and they want it delivering the same day they phoned cos they've got no logs left!
  16. is the ratchet strap fixed back to the loader so you can tip the logs out the IBC?
  17. It does dry out but it's basically just like balsa. Really light and burns fast. Might as well burn it if you've got it though.
  18. In the 1995 TDI 90 we used to have the seating position didn't seem as upright as it does with this one Jon. Maybe the back rest padding had sagged that much after 182,000 miles it was giving me a slightly less upright driving position
  19. Got this 110 loan vehicle at the moment till we get a new 90 on the farm. It's the most uncomfortable thing I've ever driven. The seat is bolt up right. I feel like I'm leaning forward to drive it. It bounces along the road and it's got the turning circle of an oil tanker. The tow ball is too high to tow a cattle trailer and it looks like it's on its lowest setting already. I like the engine though. I hope the latest 90 hard tops are better!
  20. This one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAKITA-BMR104-DAB-DIGITAL-JOB-SITE-RADIO-BL1830-3-0AH-BATTERY-DC18RC-CHARGER-/281457607923?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item41882e44f3
  21. I know someone who ended up with 3 or 4 crates similar to that in a container load of kiln dried crates that they ordered from Poland
  22. Where do you get bars and chains for Dolmars? And what do you do about parts and repairs if it goes wrong?
  23. I've thought about doing that as well, bit short on storage at the moment though
  24. That's the trouble mate I don't have the battery already so adds quite a bit of extra cost on!
  25. Is that the lot at Sedbergh that advertise in the Gazette?
