  1. We've been paying 50p a bale for someone to come and bale our grass. We scale and row it up ourselves. Done 800 so far and got enough grass down for another 300 by the end of this week. I am getting sick of the sight of them especially after helping others with theirs too
  2. You can only get a quad to the downhill side as in the photo. Foot access only to get above the tree and not sure where you'd be able to anchor to as there's no trees that side of it and the ground is all rock Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Could be worth asking them by the sound of it. It will be interesting to see how who ever does it deals with it! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Are BT or who ever is in charge of the phone lines likely to do anything about this tree (for free?). The top ends caught up in other trees. That's the only thing stopping it rolling over and going through the phone line. You should be able to make the phone line out in the pictures. Really bad place for it to happen. No access for a tractor and winch to get near it. Not sure what they'd do. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Is that coming up this way? (Cumbria) Just going off the address on the lorry
  6. They have a doberman that's got the run of the garden and sometimes the field depending if there are sheep in it or not but doesn't seem to put the fox off
  7. There has been a fox shot in the village just last week but there is still another about as it's killed other peoples chickens in the area since
  8. This small spacing 50mm x 50mm fencing wire seems to be fairly limited on where I can get it from and also about twice as expensive as normal stock fence. Cheapest I've found so far is £65 per 25m roll...
  9. Think if I was buying again I'd get something along the lines of the Posch/Krpan/Uniforest PTO driven ones. Look so handy being able to adjust the splitting height to break down long large logs or put the table in for shorter logs. Although not sure how much any of the above cost! They all look pretty much identical apart from the paint colour
  10. Our tractors sat in bits getting a new clutch so managed to borrow this for a day. So nice having a power shuttle, air con etc. Case JXU 105, the engines been tweaked too so goes well. Only trouble was the forks aren't as long as mine Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. It couldn't get through 2"x2" holes could it? Or are you saying it would climb up and over the fence even at 6 ft high? The problem is that it's been paying a visit in the day time, the hens are normally left to roam round in the field but now there seems to be a fox about they would like the option to shut them in the pen. If it was up to me I'd get it shot but they are against things like that
  12. Going to build a new pen for my mother in laws hens as they've got a fox about at the moment and the old pen was a bodged up mess that I've now started to take down. Does it need to be 6ft high to stop a fox getting over? Is this sort of wire Mesh Direct :: Wire Mesh & Wire Netting :: Wire Mesh :: Welded Mesh 50mm x 50mm Hole (2 x 2 inch) any good to work with? The pen's going to be approx. 14m long and 4m wide. What I was thinking of doing was using 2"x2" wire then lap some chicken wire down and along the ground so it grows in. Any other suggestions for what wire to use or general tips for making a hen pen appreciated
  13. None of the dials work, can't remember if it even has a temp gauge It does use oil so been keeping an eye on that and the coolant seems ok. Just don't want to blow the old lass up. It does need a good clean up on the engine as it's covered in oil and a bit of saw dust in places that can't help
  14. Hi all. Didn't think this was worthy of it's own thread. Should I be bothered about my Ford 4000 getting too hot sat running a saw bench for a few hours in warm weather or will it be ok? It seems to have been fine so far, not boiled over just wondered if it was a good thing for it to be doing! It's not like when it's in the field moving it's getting air going past it to help cool it.
  15. Ok so now they've decided they want the whole thing staining seen as all the colours faded out of it. Just got to get some scaffold set up so I can clean the green off the outside. Think I'm going to oil it. Any better suggestions or general hints and tips? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. What do you need gloves for?
  17. It'll be the same as the new combi can. Supposed to be in stock but no sign of that anywhere last time I looked...
  18. A conveyor would be handy if they weren't so expensive! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Dried up enough to be able to get to this Ash at last Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Any update on when these are going to be available?
  21. Sure is. It was my Grandads tractor. Just keeps going, never misses a beat! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Got the old lass out for a bit of snigging in the sun. She still has her place, the New Holland wouldn't fit through the gate to where I was working Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Even mendiplogs Jon couldn't handle this big butt!
  24. I actually decided to test cleaning a small area using the patio cleaner attachment for my pressure washer. Turned the pressure right down and went for it, worked fine. Eventually ended up with the pressure turned up to full and it's cleaned it right up and it hasn't damaged the wood either. I'm sure it would of damaged it had I used the lance and held it really close to the surface. It could really do with some treatment/staining now ideally. The problem is that it's a balcony type structure at first floor level so there would be all the hand rails to stain as well so it turns it in to quite an awkward job! It's a reasonable area to do as well. Not mentioned about staining it to the customer yet. Typically I forgot to take before and after photos too!
