  1. Got round to turning a load of standing dead Ash and Cherry in to logs. Someone's Donkeys ate all the bark off the bottom section of the trees and killed them. It's fantastic stuff! Still got quite a few more trailer loads to go at yet too
  2. I would probably take a bit of wood from tree surgeons in South Lakes area if anyone wants to tip it if they are ever working anywhere near
  3. It's only about 2 inches off the top of the wall! Pure fluke
  4. If you cut and split to order I presume this is for selling not fully seasoned firewood rather than ready to burn
  5. Christ! What bags stretch the least do you think
  6. £101.70 including VAT and delivery for 15 from MCA Kingstone so £6.78 each
  7. Mine are all from MCA Kingstone
  8. I've stopped bouncing the bags as I fill them to try and make up for the stretch. If I can keep getting IBC's for nothing then eventually when I have enough I'll probably switch over to them
  9. New bag on the right, older bag on the left. That's a 3m long trailer and there's not much room left in there. Just shows how much these things stretch!
  10. You need it here in the Lake District. There's a place I deliver a lot of logs to and when I go mid winter to top up the empty sheds the logs I delivered in the summer that are in the other sheds are all pretty wet Their problem not mine I guess
  11. One mistake I see all the time with log stores is little or no over hang from the roof so the logs get soaked when it rains.
  12. Balfour and Ryetec's both around the £1100-£1200 mark brand new or they were about 18 months ago anyway
  13. I was at Aira Force too having a wander round a few weeks ago. No one else there as we just popped up there one evening after work. There are some ridiculous size trees there
  14. I stopped shaking the bags as I fill them up to try and compensate for the fact the bags stretch. On 1m3 bag if you shake them to settle them down combined with the stretch it must be getting up towards 1.5m3 rather than 1m3?
  15. Small branches off all over the place here, not seen anything big so far though
  16. Fair enough You'll soon get a feel for what's seasoned and what's not
  17. All you need to do is pick 2 logs up and bang them together to see if they are seasoned. You can tell by the noise they make. Not used my moisture meter for years
  18. Really enjoyed reading that. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Wouldn't fancy stacking that lot
  20. I find you don't get as much in them as you do with a 1m3 bag as the cages don't have any give in them like bags do
  21. Is it possible to have a grab mounted on pallet forks that opens far enough that you can still pick up IBC's and pallets?
  22. I hope he isn't thinking you're going to cut them up, cart the wood out from where they are now, tidy everything up and then expect you to pay for the privilege?
