I had a pear ( william I think ) that was graftet onto a cherry rootstock . Had really nice pears and below the graft , cherry leaf and flowers . No actual cherry fruit though , sadly . -

I thought it was the other way round . The cherry is used as the root stock and other things e.g. pear are grafted onto the cherry . But as you say the sucker will be from the root stock . -
They came down the track near my log pile then drove through a gap into a field of linseed and did endless " dough nuts " on quad bikes . I thought they had destroyed the crop but amazingly it seems to have recovered and is now flowering !

Does this count ? ...I was about 10 years old , in the boy scouts and it was " bob-a-job" week . About the third house I called at was old Mrs Harris . She said can you tidy my garden . It was a jungle . Stayed there all week . Thought great , she is only round the corner and I should get a good bit of dosh . Yes , at the end of the week she gave me a fcuking shilling . Gutted .
