  1. I spent Thursday delivering 9 metres, was very warm and sunny and I found some barrowing in the heat not fun!
  2. Yes, spirea, common name bridal wreath,

    Service.

    I liked the sweets too.
  4. Stops and then starts! It is pretty cold here still, frosts in the morning. Started cutting logs again this week as all barns except 1, empty now.
  5. Do you mean the requirement for owners of wood boilers to only use hetas assured firewood to be elegible for the rhi payments?
  6. Delivered 25 metres this week, hoping what is in barns lasts until we get a chance to do some processing.
  7. We have used Clear for many years, yes they do pay out reasonably fast, they are good on Liability/employers etc, too much hassle to go somewhere else!
  8. I supplied 1m seasoned lengths for a wood boiler some while ago, they were sold loose on the trailer, boiler got through 3 metres a fortnight. Customer soon got fed up of paying to feed his hungry boiler and bought artic loads to cut himself, so don't go investing too much in this, most people have no idea how much a boiler uses or costs to run. had someone asking for an artic of dry wood last week, after the boiler had been installed, they were about 3 hours from here, obviously done no research at all into a local source of fuel.

    voles

Voles ate roots of young trees we planted at home, which caused tree death! Cats and terriers are good at catching them, and they probably get eaten by buzzards etc. never knew they damaged lawns.
  10. Just deleted one of his this morning, and reported it, annoying to find junk in your inbox!
  11. I had to pay extra premium on a truck that was sign written couple of years ago, was surprised as thought sign writing would put thieves off.
  12. Yes,agree with previous comments, don't buy any of yell.com services, had some very bad experiences with them in past.
  13. 50/50 mixed loads & softwood loads, (which makes up 60% sales), hardly any of our customers want pure hardwood for stoves as they have been put off by being sold unseasoned hardwood logs that won't burn, I do sell a few to open fire customers. We sell 12 months of year, only dry, seasoned loads. Most logs cut8-10 inches, but a few cut 15" for bigger stoves/cookers.
  14. We're high up(900ft) , so a bit, and can see plenty, but lower down mostly gone, freezing tonight.
  15. Gone a bit crazy with all the snow etc, still have plenty of dry, but getting calls from way out of delivery area, so geussing others have run out?
  16. Accountants charge according to your turnover, the more you earn the more you pay...
  17. Dumped last load during a blizzard near hadrians wall, normally stacked, but I just wanted to get out of the place as fast as I could, hope they are not too upset they have to 'stack their own!'
  18. Thinning silver birch, good sized stuff for processor.
  19. Just planned out next 3 days logs and then seen forecast for strong winds and 8-12mm snow tomorrow morning, will be difficult to get in or out if that turns up!
  20. Yes, we used to get permits, but only allowed to use hand tools! Land was very boggy and hard to carry stuff over, so we were not that bothered when permits finished- yes there is soo much waste!
  21. Leaving yard at 8, on a good day most I can do is 8-10 loads, that's 1.5m3loads. But is more like 6-8 most days, depends if it's tipped etc and how far.
  22. That's often 2 x 1.5 m3, but a lot of our customers use wood for heating,so buy bulk, especially if it's likely we couldn't get to them in ice or snow. I always do truck and trailer, work out routes where 2 drops are closest.
  23. Average delivery here is 15 miles each way as we are rural, so max free delivery is 20 miles. This is always 3 metres, and orders over 20miles must be 3 metres. Charge is £5 for each 1.5 metres over 20 miles, and that is up to around 25-30 miles.
  24. I only sell proper well seasoned logs, (dry!) a mixed load of soft and hardwood will burn beautifully on any stove, if it's a loose load, there is no cheaper way to buy your logs. I can understand someone finding the bricks easy to store and use though, and they are so light to carry, must be an advantage if you are frail/elderly.
  25. I sell to a local stove shop, I think a lot more brickette type things are being sold this year than ever., is it because they are easier to store/use/? They don't seem cheap.. Also it is the pellet boilers that they seem to be selling..
