  1. Yeah, and the hot chick ends up. Selling firewood! Seriously (that was a joke!)- I love to do all of it, cutting, tree work, and firewood, ( Especially when weather too bad to make money any other way, I can sit in my truck and deliver logs), you enjoy it all the more when you don't do the same thing all the time....
  2. Snow drops at Kielder, daffy poking thru!
  3. Hi Paul, we're definately booking 3 on the day, and 1 for the following day. Steph

Would not expect staff to leave home before 6am and climb for day then not get home till late,
  5. Know several climbers in 50's, slower, but work with skill and have so much experience. I did cs 38/9 at the age of 47! Loved watching champion pole climber in his 80's at APF last year, made us feel young ☺️

Travel time is the deciding factor, over 1 hour begins to make it unworthwhile as there is not time to get work done.
  7. Just read this- what's 'Water resistant' mean? If you work outside and buy a water resistant jacket you expect to keep dry, that's the whole point of wearing it.
  8. Delivered last load in snow today, truck sliding around on the icy slush not fun! Sales steady.
  9. £80 cubic metre Jon, lots selling cheaper around here, but with the price of cordwood for past few years it's cheapest we can do.
  10. Yes Joy,that is one factor affecting sales apart from mild weather. Our softwood sales are pretty good, and I think it because they are £20 cheaper than a mixed load.
  11. Trying to keep up with orders, 12 behind, so any moment it will be a blurr of activity around here!!
  12. Winds sounded wild all night, not looking forward to log deliveries this morning, or seeing the damage...
  13. I've asked loads of times now and no response, its not spam box,
  14. Having problems buying tickets, asked for a pass word reminder to buy tickets over an hour ago and nothing has appeared in the inbox yet, is this normal?
  15. We've bought many boots over the years, (good makes) and occasionally they fall to bits after a couple of wears! It is very annoying as they are not cheap are they? but we do need them so cough up the £'s.. But never had anyone not replace a faulty pair with new, after a few weeks even a pair purchased online should be traceable by the sellers? and if bought over the counter you are normally remembered by store. I was once asked to send faulty boots back to manufacturer, after a new pair given, but could not be bothered to pay the postage on a heavy pair of boots.
  16. An Aarow stratford tf 9OB boiler stove heats 4 bed farm house with 23 rads, does pretty well and the hot water.
  17. Web site, FB, local paper, shops, business cards (leave with new customers so they keep your phone/contact details!), sign written truck, parish mags, word of mouth/recommendation from happy customers!, always sell dry logs and it is not hard to build up a customer base who order regularly. PS. Have always found yellow pages/thompsons directories (do they still exsist?) got no business for us and was a very expensive way to advertise.
  18. Beautiful morning, blue sky and sunshine, wind dropped. Unbelievable last night' out in Hexham it was still 16.5 degrees, did not feel right!
  19. Quieter here than last October, although we have filled many customers log stores already this summer/Autumn. Its not really cold enough yet to make the sales take off - but we are ready for it when it happens - thanks to a lot of hard work earlier this summer!!
  20. We sell by cubic metre, that is described as loose! have only once had a grumpy old geezer complain that when he stacked it it was not 1 cubic metre.(I got a rude text!). So I have always made a point of stating logs are sold in loose cubic metres. If I am stacking, to make the biggest stack possible, I stack in the continental way and do layers in alternate directions. Just out of interest I was told by someone that in France they do buy by 'Stacked' cubic metres, I have never come accross anyone in UK that does that.
  21. All the rotted chip on paths is dug striaght into beds , and new stuff put down, soil is now growing excellent veg.
