  1. Hopefully my 357 crank bearings will explode soon and I can send it down to him
  2. 357 is a legendary saw. Check whether it's been rebuilt with oem or Chinese. Slightly heavier than 026 but punchier. If you set up and the weight is in the cut you'll not notice. I bought one 10years ago from my old boss who had used it well and it's still going strong!
  3. Sent email, probably end up in yer spam. Based nr allendale, Northumberland. Ta
  4. I'm kind of waiting for something to break badly on one of my saws so I can justify sending it down for a porting.....
  5. Well shout if you going to be anywhere near Northumberland Durham Cumbria......sounds like a few folk interested
  6. Let us know how the 440 responds to a Porting
  7. I charge by the hour too. Seems to work best for everyone....
  8. Some good honest owning up to stupid things here!
  9. This is an excellent vid http:// You 'll get the hang of it. Just persevere. Make sure you have good sharp files also and a decent guide (Oregon, stihl etc)
  10. I cannot believe the amount of people that seem to use saws often but can't sharpen them? Literally i can't see how they get anything done.
  11. 076 def has a thumb oil pump by handle bar ( left hand) and a brake. They make an excellent burble and for ringing up big stems and milling are ace. Pretty good cheap big saw with good parts availability. Can't quite bring myself to sell mine. Agree with rough hewn pricing
  12. If any arb first aid courses happening in north please let me know
  13. Just remembered a gooden. Years ago was cutting a 12" beech limb back from a field boundary. Not wanting to deck the fence I went about half way out along the nearly horizontal limb. Did a little under cut then a top cut limb split into back toward the tree pulling me by my wirecore hard into the tree. Thankfully the limb dropped out of my strop and fell and didn't pin me there. Had a pretty sore back after that.
  14. Sounds a nightmare Gary. Had a few times where a step cut has broke and your knee jerk reaction is to reach over a running saw to try and catch it...had to stop myself and makes you think what yet subconscious is up to
  15. Pal down the road has a lumbermate. Not sure what model. Leccy start Honda powered. He has modded it to have slot of hand cranked adjustable legs and the extra long one. Have spent a few days helping with it Seems good to me but I do not have much experience with other mills other than watching.
  16. Was a thread on one recently. Have a 540t a run for its money....
  17. Did it again today, spiked up a tree and realised a good way up that leg straps not done up. Very easily done on a dragon fly as had a saddle
  18. When I sub out it's usually pick up, trailer, all saws required ms150 to 880, rigging kit, climbing kit, rescue kit and all ppe.
  19. Not 100 percent but think the 076 has a brake and the 075 doesn't. Is it an 020av or an 020 like a ms200?
  20. That's a good one I'll try that
  21. I've nearly started the back cut too. Stopped cutting gobs with mainline in above now....
  22. Aye meybs, not familiar with machine at all, if the wires are ok then I'm of it of ideas. Good luck!
  23. Suspect it was a bit of a 3.30 am post......fine to talk about it but meybs not on someone's job ad.
