  1. Broke another one, have a black diamond on which is still working but the little bit that holds it in place is broke so it slops around a bit. Those dmm ones good? Worth 25quid? Anyone got anything better? The pink ones skyland sell are pretty fit
  2. Honestly I don't look at stitching often....i really should though. I do krabs when the stop clicking shut properly. Tend to notice this quickly. Check rope and friction cord often nearly daily
  3. Don't rush me Mark I've only just got the hang of a HC after 10 years of prussocking. And I still have to check the knut is correct on my phone......god knows how much slower srt would be for me to learn by myself via the internet The idea of bombing a line pretty much anywhere then effortlessly ascending without breaking a sweat sounds attractive though
  4. Can't quite imagine that setup. Timber hitch with the right length dead eye works for me. Can get it nice and snug easy peasy if negative rigging a stem
  5. This true. However for a rustic bar and fireplace a split or two or crack may be acceptable? 064 will be fine on a 36 lo pro. Not the fastest but fine id say....
  6. Not tried it but it is jaso FD so should be ok....be interested to find out if anyone else has had this. On rye oil 2 stroke at the minute
  7. Swings and round abouts I guess just done syc no.2, first shot
  8. Just been stubbornly throwing for 45mins at a big sycamore that wanted deadwooding. There was a lovely crotch which meant I would have had access to everything without moving anchor. After a lot of swearing I settled on a lesser spot......thankfully customer was out.
  9. Yes missed your huge positivity!
  10. Sounds like the dream.
  11. Do you use aspen full time?
  12. Hopefully my 357 crank bearings will explode soon and I can send it down to him
  13. 357 is a legendary saw. Check whether it's been rebuilt with oem or Chinese. Slightly heavier than 026 but punchier. If you set up and the weight is in the cut you'll not notice. I bought one 10years ago from my old boss who had used it well and it's still going strong!
  14. Sent email, probably end up in yer spam. Based nr allendale, Northumberland. Ta
  15. I'm kind of waiting for something to break badly on one of my saws so I can justify sending it down for a porting.....
  16. Well shout if you going to be anywhere near Northumberland Durham Cumbria......sounds like a few folk interested
  17. Let us know how the 440 responds to a Porting
  18. I charge by the hour too. Seems to work best for everyone....
  19. Was it still running?
  20. Some good honest owning up to stupid things here!
  21. This is an excellent vid http:// You 'll get the hang of it. Just persevere. Make sure you have good sharp files also and a decent guide (Oregon, stihl etc)
  22. I cannot believe the amount of people that seem to use saws often but can't sharpen them? Literally i can't see how they get anything done.
  23. 076 def has a thumb oil pump by handle bar ( left hand) and a brake. They make an excellent burble and for ringing up big stems and milling are ace. Pretty good cheap big saw with good parts availability. Can't quite bring myself to sell mine. Agree with rough hewn pricing
  24. If any arb first aid courses happening in north please let me know
  25. Just remembered a gooden. Years ago was cutting a 12" beech limb back from a field boundary. Not wanting to deck the fence I went about half way out along the nearly horizontal limb. Did a little under cut then a top cut limb split into back toward the tree pulling me by my wirecore hard into the tree. Thankfully the limb dropped out of my strop and fell and didn't pin me there. Had a pretty sore back after that.
