  3. So far rob mine is holding up well. Have had it a good few months and paint only just starting to come off. Rails seem good as new. What has the rail edge been treated with? Just heat or is satellite or something mad like that?
  4. Correct. Before I bought it, there has been alot of heat around the clutch. Side cover all bubbled and oil worm the same, some of which plastic has slagged into the needle bearing. Cleared it all out, dremelled some bits off. Much less chain creep but not perfect, doesn't cut out with the brake on, starts with the brake on and with a were tune up doesn't require throttle to start. Have ordered new side cover, clutch springs, oil worm gear and needle bearing to eliminate this hopefully properly. Joe worth a check if your getting chain run on

  8. Yes it had it's place, but many variables and no one wants to see anyone hurt! Film it though, it may make the famous tree felling fails compilations!
  9. Been on with a fifty something meter conifer hedge reduction last few days. Approx 3m off the top. Thankfully had a mewp. Chipped it all with a cs100. Well impressed with it, eats connie very well.
  10. Just got a battery dremel witj diamond files. So far this seems excellent but only had it a few weeks. You'd have to be ok at file sharpening with this option to get the angles/depth correct though.
  11. Let's do it!

  22. Mick are talking about doing that move on trees that are not being retained?
  23. Use a biggish saw. As said it's pretty species dependant. I have had a few minging times doing this- saw getting pulled out my hands, branch cleaving in 2 ( like a horizontal barbers chair), twisted chains, tips got to the deck before it snaps and butt smashing backwards- this can happen faster than you would think possible. Personally I'd never have a side strop on the big limb I'm cutting - nightmare If it misbehaves. Get Well above it. So your well out the way. Think out how the limb will fall, it may well skin the tree your climbing badly, if the tips come down first the butt could end up some way away. get confident on small limbs like 4 to 6inch first. Don't do a " feck it" cut. Often quicker in terms of tidy up/ground crew to waltz out and drop it in 3 or 4 bits Prolly want to do your bunny ears as well Have fun!
