  1. Who, the bloke who sells bars, chains and sprockets?
  2. Fair enough, the model that I sometimes use is a 235mx I think, which is 7.5" or thereabouts? Probably double the weight of a 150.
  3. Would you not run another Schliesing Mick? If all the chippers I've used that's what I'd be surrendering my hypothetical money on.
  4. Fair enough, I'll do anything I can these days to avoid using a heavier saw than needed
  5. Because its crazy! If you buy an 88 have a longer bar so you don't have to double cut? I reckon a 66 on a 30" would cut faster than an 88
  6. Why you'd have a 30" bar on an 881? Seems mental!
  7. I'm with Matty, the appeal is the lack of weight and the smooth constant torque. It keeps that 660 off my harness for just that bit longer. It's still the best saw I've used apart from the 2511 in terms of power to weight, but it's not a total game changer. It does make my life easier though.
  8. That's you and Matty running 28". Reckon I might try that next time I replace the bar.
  9. They're we go! You've one upped me with the full wrap too! What length bar you running on yours Don?
  10. I properly hate having to pull the 66 up a tree nowadays.
  11. I'd wager the people suggesting these rates aren't the ones paying them. It's one thing paying a shit hot groundy/team leader £160 as a subby, but nobody is getting that on the books.
  12. The reality is somewhat different unfortunately.
  13. How are you wearing the harness. A lot of people seem to wear it over the hips. I think it's designed to be worn beneath them.
  14. If I could only have 2 saws it would be 2511 and a 500i Would cover most things I reckon.
  15. Doesn't work either. If have got loads better over lockdown otherwise.
  16. I remember hearing that one told by James Nesbitt on Murphy's Law some 20 years ago!

    3120 Value?

I was just given one for free 🤣 Hopefully it'll do alright for a milling saw
  18. Got the wrench and the chicane mate. I love the Chicane for being able to go up srt and switch back and forth easily. If I'm working ddrt and come down for break I can just knot block my line and send it up to the cambium saver and go back up srt and switch back. Come to think of it I haven't used the wrench since I've had the Chicane
  19. Pretty knackered Beech dismantle from last Friday. Tensioned high line set up above the tree to tie into.
  20. Yeah just buy a pinto mate, or a quickie. Don't be tight with climbing kit. You could theoretically keep the tension in your base tie but I'm not sure why you'd want to. A canopy tie exerts to to half the load that a base tie does. Use one or the other, depending on the task. No need to try and use both.
  21. I guess. He's asking how to back up a base tie with a retrievable canopy anchor. Well I'll just ascend to the branch I'm over (if I don't need to advance) and put an alpine pinto canopy anchor in. The retrieval leg will still effectively be base tied but you'll be on a canopy anchor. More often than not though I'm comfortable working from a base tie.
