  1. I figured I'd bid on it, but I haven't met the reserve price. Don't really see the point in that, if you've got a minimum figure in mind just start the auction at that?
  2. Why the name calling? He's not been rude, just voiced his opinion.
  3. Okay, perhaps I mistook what you said. As for the rest of it I couldn't agree more.
  4. Is that what I was doing? Just a surprising comment from you is all Dave. Its great that some people don't feel the need to talk about their mental health. Good for you. I don't tend to either. I do certainly appreciate that a lot of people are different to me, for whatever reason. Suggesting that talking doesn't really help for those people is a bit daft imo.
  5. Not me, I'd be calling up with anxiety every time I got sent to a hawthorne hedge reduction.
  6. Thanks for sharing Ian, that's really shit news for any couple, you have my sympathy. I struggled to tolerate her anxiety because I fundamentally didn't understand it. I'll admit at points I wasn't as supportive as I could have been. I still don't really understand it because it's something I've never experienced myself, and I think that goes for a lot of people. I was also quite ignorantly against medication thinking that it just masked the symptoms. Bit of an eye opener, and I do also think that terms like depression and anxiety are bandied around a bit. It's a tricky line.
  7. There's always that one person dragging a thread down...
  8. I used to think about it like that. Recently my partner had a bit of a rough time with anxiety after she was a bit physically unwell. She ended up catatonic convinced she was dying, wouldn't even hold our one year old daughter. Was a pretty horrible time for her and everyone involved really. She was prescribed some anti anxiety medication which pretty quickly got her thinking rationally again. Turns out the physical condition that had her all worked up was bought on by anxiety anyway. In hindsight my previous attitude to anxiety and depression was quite ignorant.
  9. How much is it Ian? I think it's a great idea. We've all been affected by mental health somewhere or other, whether it's personally or someone you might know.
  10. He must've gone "full influencer" to think that anyone gives a toss on his opinions outside of picking bits of tree up with a crane and putting them through his nice big chipper
  11. Try and sound less rapey next time you say something like that.
  12. Don't get me wrong, you'd need a crowbar to peel me off some of them. Boel is quite safe in that regard mind. If you like John Lloyd, follow Arborestry. Lad called Tom Organ who used to occasionally post here.
  13. Almost as annoying as the "doesn't matter if my kit hasn't seen a speck of sawdust as long as I can squeeze my tits into a tight t shirt" bunch
  14. All that American "hoo-ra" stuff can jog on
  15. I'm a freelance climber based in Rugby. Tell me a bit more about your business?
  16. Can't stand them. Not comfy in the ground or on spikes. The soles came away after 2 months so the boots were replaced under warranty. Might just be me though. Boots are a gamble, you can't tell wether they'll suit you until you've done a week or twos worth of graft, then you're stuck with them
  17. Smug bastard. I bet his mrs is smoking hot too... @DrewB?
  18. They look like a bit of me. How much?
  19. I think the potential for misuse is the same no matter what brand you go for, you can risk a swing with any hook if you settle for a dodgy placement, which is sometimes the case. I do think the captain is worth the money for the engineering that's gone into it and will undoubtedly be better for tree work. Like I've already said mine doesn't get used often but when it does its invaluable. I've got my mainline spliced both ends so I use the tail end for the hook when needed. Then when I get there I can use the tail as a second system. Having the hook on a seperate line in a bag is just a lot of faff for me.
  20. Haven't we all done similar?
  21. Friends don't let friends buy Stein. I had the tekichu launcher and voiced my experiences of it in a similar thread. I was shortly contacted by stein who suggested I could've contacted them before voicing my opinion online, and that they would send me a replacement (along with a couple of throwlines/bags etc). That wasn't really what I was after and to cut a long story short the replacement didn't last long either. I've got a big shot w/ archery trigger now and it's great. The current stein one may well be loads better though.
