  1. The Latin name is Populus, I wonder if thats anything to do with it.
  2. Funny you should mention that. I had asparagus last night, and googled the funny smell. Some people produce it, others don't. Some people can smell it, others can't. It's to do with a sulphuric chemical in the veg. Personally I barely notice it over the normal smell of my balls.
  3. It depends where you are. Pay scales vary massively depending on location. A climber in London can expect almost double my wage, not that they'll necessarily be any better off though. Round here a team leader might get £25-30k, depending on who they work for.
  4. I know, the weight saving on that bar would be negligible, but it's pretty. I wouldn't use it in a tree as my topper does the job fine. Snedding, logging and felling small stuff is what I have in mind
  5. I think he's after angles/tips. Never considered they might be case hardened!
  6. Steady on, I get the impression he's upset about something... Call it intuition I guess
  7. Ooh, good question mate! I've been holding off cos the last time I tried they were worse than when I started! Sorry that wasn't much help
  8. 13" on 50cc isn't silly is it? That said, the PNW and Uk seem at polar opposites in terms of bar length vs power. Sissies Y'see mate, this is why I farm my SE stuff out to you. Wayyy over my head! "Was I supposed to put 2 stroke oil in with the petrol?" Remember that bad joke!?
  9. Glad to hear it that "West Germany" sticker is something to be proud of. Whenever I used it I was normally whistling the intro to "Winds of Change" by The Scorpions!
  10. Wondered who the first one would be! You reckon it'll shave much time off the cuts? I can do with and without timed videos if it would be educational?

    Krabs

I've had both ISC and DMM ovals and they both stuck once the wether got bad. Since then I've used Petzl OK ovals and I can't fault them.
  12. Hi Spud, just giving you a heads up: This arrived today. The warranty is 2 years. I trust that'll be enough time to figure out how to work your magic on it?
  13. Haha hi dude! It took some doing on Spuds part, but it's now a raving lunatic of a saw! I geared up the sprocket for good measure! How's the 038 Super treating you?
  14. No, it's terminally broken. Your best bet is to sell it to me. I'd be doing you a favour, honest!
  15. The spacer is there to stop the Sirius prussik squeezing the cheeks of the pulley together under load. I wouldn't recommend removing it.
  16. Nice vid, one of your first thy I could watch through the arbtalk app. Do you find yourself often going straight from the "one-fiddy" to the 346? Bet your poor toppers feeling left out! Looked like a cold hands day.
  17. PM me the address, and I'll ring bark the bugger for a small fee. Moral dilemma removed. Milling is a nice option, at least the nice old tree may still in a small way live on as something else.
  18. The problem with asking a forum full of pro cutters is that we're blinkered. The majority of us use our saws every day so shelling out for the best tools makes sense to us. I'd be looking at a saw capable of pulling 18" with ease. The minimum I'd go for is 60cc, and my preference would be the 560xp, which carries a price tag of around £700. It's a belting saw, but is way over the top for what you need. Plus there's all the other stuff that goes with a pro saw: regular maintenance, high quality fuel and oil, and operator skill. In your shoes a sensible choice would be a 60cc Makita, which would be significantly cheaper, more forgiving, and plenty for your needs. If you must have a Stihl, their homeowner range is pretty much tailored for you. MS290 will pull an 18" bar, or a 390 will pull it faster. Many on here would snuff the idea, and I wouldn't buy one, but then we're in different categories of saw user.
  19. Yeah but your saws aren't exactly "off the shelves" models, are they mate?
  20. Thought my new saw arrived pretty sharpish. 24hrs between ordering and delivery. Pretty impressive
  21. Awesome. I'll find what works best for me then. It's gonna be a snedding saw anyway, so I reckon 8t should be about right. 9t would be downright silly. If I find myself in your neck of the woods I'll expect a go on your 560!
  22. Eddy, you do talk a load of technobabble! Everyone knows that a spline is what produces bile! So in short, my 357 is small spline, like the 550, so the sprocket will fit both? Would I be better off whacking the 8t on before setting the auto tune? Forgive my technical incompetence. I took a lot of knocks to the head as a child.
  23. I've just bought a 550xpg (cos I saw a snowflake today) and it's wearing a 13" Sugi bar. Had a look for an 8t .325 rim for it if I want to play with the chain speed, and can't find one. Apparently Husqy say they don't make an 8t .325 rim for the 550. I have a spare 8t rim for my 357 would that fit? If not could someone point me to where I can get one for the 550? Cheers homies.
  24. I hear ya luckily I work with lads that that aren't too sensitive. "Ya lanky, big nosed douch" has actually become one of our lads names. Can't remember what he said he was called when he started.
