The UK farmers have been oversubsidised for many decades. Your dairy farming system is just nothing but a corrupt welfare rort. The fact that you can even have farmers with 50 cow herds is beyond a joke. Its just a sponsored hobby. Our family struggled with 270 cows due to european farm subsidies killing the international price for product. During the 80's When our neighbours lost there farms with 180 cows, UK farmers with 30 cows were buying new tractors and holidaying in NZ.

Im a reformed paddlehead. Learn in an enclosed cockpit and learn to roll. Once you have a bombproof roll, your able to adventure further and generally be safer.

The money often stinks but once you start putting in 100 hour plus weeks, it starts being worth while. Im an insomniac, my record was something like 72 hours strait aside from fuel or pit stops. I lived under my machine for a while as I worked in the middle of nowhere and travelling to any other sort of "home" made no sense, great way to save money, stay single and go a little insane. I kept a 22 with me, the top of the cab makes a pretty good shooting platform

The treescape trucks have that system, its pretty hard to defeat, especially when there tipper also has a bucket snorkel rested on it as well. Best way to explain it is that there are two cupboard doors that on the inside have like a towel rail mounted inside each door. The rails line up with each other when closed. The sides of the toolbox have a hole where a long 20mm round rod can be inserted which then goes through the towel rails and through the other side of the box. You put the rod in with the deck tipped up, then when the deck is down it sits pretty snug to the rod. (which is straight with a bend at the end to be a kind of handle.) They double as a great place to hang gear on the inside of the doors.

I love huskys, but I have had terrible "luck" with their coils in the 272 394 395 and 3120. Hot saws that wont start get boring very quickly.

I will have to give the 550 a spin, I have a ported 346 and a few standard ones. A starter,muffler, clutch springs and a brake handle is all they have needed over the last 7 years. Great saws.

check if the rotor was rotated as they greased it the first time, in many chippers failing to do it causes failures in new bearings alarmingly quickly

I had a medium/large sycamore dismantle yesterday. Easy access and not to technical but I was short one guy (just 2 of us). wood stayed where it fell. I went nuts, had the green off by 11am and the next 6 hours was just a bombing mission, no breaks. I climbed with both a ms200t and a power ported 346xp on my belt. Then the 3120xp (aweful fat shoulder breaking speed machine) on the trunk until I snapped the chain...grr. the 66 felt like slow going but got us there. Got it done, client impressed, 820 pounds plus tax. nice!

if you can afford it, get a bigger engine that can be run at lower load. A liquid cooled engine would be MUCH better. Heck bodge up a car engine to it. the exhaust is only so much of the engine noise, alot of it is made by the intake and general internal mechanical noise. Vibration is going to be alot of the racket, if you can isolate the engine and hydraulic pump using rubber engine mounts it will make a difference. The engine needs less air than you might think. the engines can handle great heat so long as there is some outside air circulation. YOu can always run an oil cooler if you have to. Running the exhaust into a drum of water is a very good start, its how log poachers get the job done quieter. To keep good engine getting to the air filter, take the filter off, run a snorkel up and put a filter at the end of it, This will allow for cool clean air for the engine. Take the fuel tank off, run a longer hose and mount it up on a ladder or something nearby. Then make your muffle box

I ran stihl bg85's for years and years and thought they were good. Got a echo PB655 and relised I had wasted WEEKS (WEEKS I SAY) of productive time puffing around the job with an underpowered machine. The extra money you spend on a backpack will pay itself of over and over and over again. Going back to handhelds is like running your saws on the job at half throttle Go the big backpacks!!!!!!!

Usually do a 60 to 80 hours a week. Gear breaking ads up quick to my hour count. Piece of cake compared to milking cows.

I sell it for a bottle of red wine per metre but I have a 24/7 free dump spot 10 mins from home. That way I can honestly say I dont make any money from the mulch. (hic!)

I must have 12 ms200t and 020t's in my shed. One is brand spankers. I currently have 7 of them wanting love because of carb trouble. I dont have to look at the MS201t for a long time, hopefully long enough for the MS201T to be properly sorted straight out of the box, and if that doesnt happen Im sure brad snelling will sort on for me. His saws are awesome!
