  1. We are lucky we are good mechanics because if a saw was put together totally wrong (like if the sparkplug somehow ended up near the fuel storage area) it would make for a very very bad thing to pull the starter on. Should you find you put a saw together in such a dangerous matter accidently, you should imediately stop working on it and leave it on the bench until you have worked out how to fix that potentially dangerous situation. Maybe take teh starter handle off, just to be extra safe
  2. Water with petrol is only going to make an engine splutter and stop. Now bleach on the other hand.......
  3. Bandit has in the past had a horrible habit of sending flawed "factory seconds" to NZ to be sold. The local agents who are great and honest have been stuck between the dishonest dealings of brush bandit and the clients who are victims of spending top dollar on flawed and badly patched up machines. They obviously figure sending them to one of there smallest markets in a nice way of getting rid of them while not hurting their reputation. whats up the the 9?
  4. I dont know about the uk but you can get co2 powered imitation grenades that pop at 130db. YOu can fill the shell with talcum powder, toner ink powder or some form of powder dye. When they go off it totally powders closest thing to them. You cant see well, in an enclosed space they are deafening. Sadly they dont do any real harm, but by god if someone lets one off when your not expecting it its not a fun experience Thunder B Airsoft CO2 Grenade 3 Pcs Set - Airsoft CO2 Grenade Set - AirSplat.com - AirSoft Gun Warehouse Stick em in a few places, trip wire em or pull the pin and leave em under stuff.
  5. That bit lifted in the vid has to be less than 200kgs, its way under the 950kg capacity of the chopper, not a good look for effeciency to be honest as it means more cuts, more stropping and more turns to do exactly the same thing. 90 seconds per turn plus the 30 seconds cut time you see, gives you 30 turns max, or $66 of company $ per turn. $66 will get you about 4 hours of strong samoan groundy time, it would have to be hellish access (which I assume it was) for the bird to be worth it doing light lifts like that. of course this is just BLIND speculation from a laptop, Im sure it was very different on the job!
  6. The vermeer 625 is an overpriced, underperforming and underspec unit Vermeer makes to sell cheap to the rental market. I havent used a 150 or 1600 The other vermeers are okay, the 935 is solid, the 1230's bc1000's etc are good. But they are not as good as the bandits.
  7. I have a job scheduled for tomorrow for a lovely couple, I quoted the job with them 3 weeks back. The wife called about an hour ago to see that we were still on and to tell me she was going to be out for part of the day at a funeral. Says I "Im sorry to hear that, I take it your husbands going as well?" "Yes, its his funeral." Im hoping to find time to get some flowers on my way there!
  8. Here its about 500 GPB plus tax as a starter. try to aim above that generally here in kiwiland.
  9. Get a safe. fill it with coke bottles full of petrol and a heavy sprinkle of reloading gunpowder and leave the container in there to. Lock it up. leave a tenner sticking out of it. They will steal it with great effort and then try to cut there way into it. They wont be back. They are going to nick your stuff, give them something they will regret.
  10. So do you wear full ballistic jacket and gloves at all times?
  11. If it was a false allegation he would fight it. Hes worth 125 million, he could fight this with ease, and if he won could be worth alot more. If he was innocent. By giving up early, He is avoiding loosing his hero status with his more loyal followers by being exposed in a trail where proof of what hes done WOULD come out.
  12. We like UK arbs here in NZ. They are desperate for work, bring a heap of shiny toys and flash qualifications (half of either are useless) Once you property introduce them to big trees, big saws, warm weather and steep ground and break them out of a nanny state mindset, they do okay. They are generally great in a big broadleaf, but like a seal pup in big pines, macs and gums.
  13. I can make as much money in a day with me and a crappy old dosko as I can with two guys and all the kit. I like it one a rainy day, guys ring me up asking if we have work on, I can just send em out to do stumps! I have quotes to do but theres a few hours left at the end of the day, send em out to do stumps, my guys are out on a job and I have some time, I send myself out to do stumps! And you pick up lots of other work while doing it
  14. Cut top of convertable, fill with mulch, Job done!
  15. Stumps suck, I have done quite a few the hard way, this one was so badly placed and concrete infested we broke it up into several bits with jacks, axes and wedges then got a little help to get the 400kg bits out...... 16. Near new silky 21 foot pole saw Bottles of whiskey and rum Lots of wine Radio controlled car full set of scuba gear and 2 tanks a tricycle Lots of soft toys (I have young daughters) other stuff to, I have GREAT clients
  17. Drink spirits, lay off the beer and lolly water Eat well Work faster and harder!
  18. I have a couple 88's and a 3120 (and a 090) Theres very little between the 3120 and 88.I lean towards the 3120 as it has the button oiler and a better filter system in my opinion. I run a 28inch bar on the 3120, its awesome, saves SO much time on the big wood, makes the 66 seem athsmatic. The other day we got a big gum stick on the ground, we were busting it up pretty quick with an 88 and the 3120 until I snapped the 3120's chain. Had to go to the 66 mag after than and it felt like I was going backwards. Its the same kind of step up as going from the 372 or 44 to a 66 or 395. We run 42 to 60 inch bars on the 88's. Its true you dont get a heck of alot of use out of them, but they pay there way quick on the big jobs. One bit of advice, big saws need D starter handles, stihl sells them for there rescue saws, makes starting them, especially in a tree alot easier and doesnt mess your hand up so much.
  19. Oh dont be like that Andy, Dunedin is a fine place to VISIT
  20. JCB fastrac with a forestry mulcher mower mounted up front. Harvesters are wimpy and slow
  21. The UK farmers have been oversubsidised for many decades. Your dairy farming system is just nothing but a corrupt welfare rort. The fact that you can even have farmers with 50 cow herds is beyond a joke. Its just a sponsored hobby. Our family struggled with 270 cows due to european farm subsidies killing the international price for product. During the 80's When our neighbours lost there farms with 180 cows, UK farmers with 30 cows were buying new tractors and holidaying in NZ.
  22. Im a reformed paddlehead. Learn in an enclosed cockpit and learn to roll. Once you have a bombproof roll, your able to adventure further and generally be safer.
  23. 262xp saying the 201 is like calling david cameron the best PM ever. Seat aint warm and plenty of people dont like it at all
  24. Landcruiser or hilux. Landys arent the international vehicle they once were.
  25. The money often stinks but once you start putting in 100 hour plus weeks, it starts being worth while. Im an insomniac, my record was something like 72 hours strait aside from fuel or pit stops. I lived under my machine for a while as I worked in the middle of nowhere and travelling to any other sort of "home" made no sense, great way to save money, stay single and go a little insane. I kept a 22 with me, the top of the cab makes a pretty good shooting platform
