  1. Best to present it as a standing sale to several parties and see what they give you per ton for the various different products. Sounds like there will be some good saw logs in it.
  2. Shredders do, not chippers though.
  3. Seconded, an incredible system.
  4. Chrome still blocking in a web search unless you type directly into the address bar.
  5. Not ideal for tree surgery use, awkward big lumps often at full extension. I've seen them shear off a three point linkage. Far better to have a dedicated unit or buy a cheap lorry and adapt it.
  6. Just what I was thinking, dirt cheap to run, very useful. A landy will cost you 26p a mile in fuel alone. Add another 10p for servicing, then what about financing the vehicle? A Land Rover is great if you need it and a chain round your neck if you don't. If your in business you should not be investing in something that won't earn you money. If you did need a 4x4 the a Defender is a good bet as a work truck because of the high residuals.
  7. Sorry that reads poorly, basically if your choice of MT's are available dealer fit and have the correct rating you'll be fine.
  8. Brand new tyres are to be a different pattern. That's why the like of AT2's changed there pattern. You tyres won't suddenly become illegal ,it's being phased in and it is part of a much bigger EU plan to stop modifications. Soon you will not be able to chip your motor, fit extra lights or anything. It will have to be done by the manufacturer. It's supposed to stop the boy racers but like most EU law has been poorly thought out with no basis in proper research.
  9. Blooming right! Thes threads annoy me, if your the lads father then you know him best. You'd be amazed how well children respond to responsibility but at the end of the day it comes down to the individual. My son could drive hydrostatic tractor and operate the front loader at 7. My daughter how ever would kill someone lol!
  10. You'll struggle, even down south. They only want it when there is a market. Probably looking at firewood if there is large volumes.
  11. Guildford? is there any forestry in Guildford lol! Are they ex- FC machines, i recognise that forwarder.
  12. Yes, I use it.
  13. That's is exactly the situation. You will get nowhere with this. They want a large company with 9001, 14001 CHAS etc so that when / if things go wrong it will not be their problem.
  14. Steve has hit the nail on the head. They have engineered it so you have to use main dealers. Many new vehicles do this. Porsches have a drop down flap underneath to get to the engine!
  15. Use it for work, at home etc I use iCloud which also pushes everything to all your apple devices.
  16. That is really terrible news, even with insurance the disruption and hassle it causes is incredible. I hope it all gets sorted soon. Careful what you post online guys!
  17. Google maps based, they hold the data. Looks like a good concept but needs refining IMO.
  18. Got an email today about this, I don't see how they can make any claims on accuracy when it depends on your device. I also don't like the idea that the data is held by them on their servers with no desktop access. An interesting concept poorly executed I think. There also seems to be a problem viewing their t and c's which I think says it all.
  19. Depends what sort of work your chasing. Don't pay over the odds for it. Few of the off the shelf solutions unstandardised Arb and Forestry. If your not careful you'll get sold an overly complex system / manual. After all there is a big difference between quality management for a company producing aircraft parts and your average tree surgery company!
  20. Contact Matt O'Brien at Highland Forestry on 01479 873001. I suspect the haulage will kill it though.
  21. All completely irrelevant as it depends on the chipper used and the final grade of chip required. Contact some of the suggestions above and get a feel for what you actually require. Theres a big difference between waste reduction and biomass production. With the right chipper you should get your chipping done in 2 days by a 18" + chipper if it's all in one place and being blown into one pile. Keep the chipper standing or keep it moving and it will take longer. I don't know of any contractors in Ireland sadly. You could try contacting: M Large.
  22. Get the weigh ticket off the driver before they go...
  23. Saw a tirfor cable go and badly injure a man when I was in my teenage years working with my Dad. A lesson well learned.
  24. One of my consultancy clients needs some tree work carried out on a TPO'd tree in London. Probably Islington but not confirmed yet. Primarily the work is air spading but I believe there is some remedial tree work to carry out as well. PM Please as then I'll be alerted via email. Ta.
