  1. So, you are looking to employee someone without the correct skill set to erect a a wind turbine? I'm sure many of us could do it BUT this is a civils project and requires a certain skill set. Lots of cock up potential.
  2. Britpart! that's a brave choice lol!
  3. Contact Scott at Fairley Arboriculture in Bangor. He was looking for surveyors on here a few weeks ago. Contact details are on his website. http://www.fairleyarb.co.uk.
  4. Speak to Natural England and they will give you all the guidance you require for that particular site. There should also be a management plan somewhere if the field is in HLS.
  5. Hi there, where abouts are you? You could always pop into our offices for a chat if your in The Highlands.
  6. Here... fmo3__assessment_schedule_01_oct_06_2.pdf
  7. Yes it does require LOLER http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/ais29.pdf
  8. I have has extensive dealings with this for Health and Safety clients. The generally feeling seems to be that it was the 'in thing' a few years ago but has little effect now. It's basically a step to get you around the first stages of a PQQ, in reality many clients don't recognise it and will make you fill out a PQQ anyway. (Construction and LA) Some Local Authorities insist on it.
  9. DH Jones Plant Hire in Bala can give you some contacts as well.
  10. Pete390 on here.
  11. Well done Pete, glad to see it paying of
  12. Oh, an 'iaudit' is a free customisable app for risk assessment etc.
  13. Worth pointing out that a Bluetooth keyboard is a cheap an handy addition when you do need to do a fair whack of typing.
  14. Aye, it's QTS's and I know it well too. The Woodsman range of chippers have very poor in feed power. Most of the railway chipping is straight regen so it'll take that without to much trouble. Bruks or Erjo are far better as chip forwarders.
  15. Its not a substitute for either, BUT, it can comfortably fulfil those roles if required. I suppose I am saying, if you purchase an iPad for web based use then you'll be surprised how much work related tastings you can take on as and when the need arises.
  16. I often edit massive combined RAMS documents on the iPad 2 using docs2go. No it hasn't got the functionality of a desktop device but the it's not designed for that. It will do what you want and it'll do it well. The iPad goes everywhere with me as a backup device. I also have a drop box account which holds important templates etc. Docs2go talks to this and allows me to access what I need when I need it. You can export direct to email from docs2go. The latest iPad3 looks to be able to run pages which is Apples word processor. Be interesting to see what the cross compatibility is like. Get one, you will not ever regret it.
  17. Still snowing hard in N Wales and fairly windy, the inlaws tree has snapped out a fair few limbs :-(
  18. It's not just the Western troop deaths you have to take into account. Every idiot with military service rushed to Afghan in the early days to work as civilian security contractors on .gov projects. These guys and girls were ill prepared and not properly supported. Many have been killed. There is no formal procedure for reporting 'civillian' deaths in Afghanistan so those 400 troops could quiet easily be 1500 or more. Thankfully things are slowly improving and the greedy security groups have fallen by the way side.
  19. As above plus they will need shredding not chipping over a magnetic conveyor to pull out the nails etc.
  20. Great for work, with an app like Docs to Go you can do just what you require. You can also do quotes etc. on the iPhone but it's not as easy. I tend to prepare everything on the iPad, send it as an email to the outbox and then drive through McDonalds for a coffee. It sends all the emails before I've been served, lol!
  21. This has a hole in it now and it's not my saw!
  22. The silver mg side cover has a crack in it, where's the best place to get one postal ASAP? Ta.
  23. A crap machine, Woodsman are appalling chippers!
  24. That's great, I was almost hoping that would be the outcome to be honest.
  25. Lots and lots mate. Won't name names as thats not very professional but I personally know of at least 8-10.
