  1. of course there no use on woodmizer blades, you've got to buy the "specially made" woodmizer one....pfaaaf.. depending on the tooth profile, the cam can be made to grind any blade, the only limiting factors are band width, and tpi, and the grinder sold by woodland isnt exactlly a "cheap one, but a quality product from a reputable manufacturer (a producer of several high end grinding machines). the most common problem with bands is that the micro fractures that occur are not properly ground out every time, this is more due to the rush of the operator in setting up, than in the design of the grinder
  2. up here costing runs at £250 a day, minimun charge 4 hours, £1 mile over 20mile radius of base, and any chains or bands damaged by inclusions in the timber, charged at cost. everybody seems happy at this, I normally work a discount if Im going to be on the site for over 5 days
  3. nice work, how you finding your milwaukie tools
  4. parking mad.....another media sensationalistion for the sheeple.....every time one of the baliffs takes money off someone, they are commiting fraud, for a warrant to be legal and enforceable, it MUST carry a wet signature of a magistrate or judge, not be a photocopy or a computer pritout from the baliffs office, one of these days there going to stop a lawyer, lets see them put that on telly when he has them for fraud and the piggys helping them for corruption. more and more people are now learning what can and cant actually be done under the so called legal system and are beggining to fight back against the coruption and fraud that has gone on for years rant over.....I detest these type of programmes made for sheeple
  5. get in touch with woodland mills, they do a good one
  6. I made up a small weight out of some washers and a bolt (looks like a double brimmed hat), and I lay this in the bottom of the loop I'm sharpening, keeps the chain tight in the track, and a little pull back against the stop after every advance keeps every thing spot on, you soon get into a routine when using the machine
  7. a little carefull dressing and shaping with a diamond stick and the profile can be altered to do any chain, I have one permantly set up for doing 3/8 picco milling chains, and another for 325 cross cutting
  8. i use the nothern tools one, also used as a cant leaver on the saw mill, If anyone knows if nothern tools are still trading it would be nice to know

how can you say the logosol mill is a bit limited justin, it can do anything an alaskan can do, and then some, plus no screwed up back
  10. you should notice a big difference with the new saw carriage teed, pick up a couple of the black nylon/plastic runner strips to keep as spares, as these seem to wear out quite quickly, and I found that checking the free running and setting of the guides was critical for maximum accuracy( no vibration in the cut)
  11. is this common law, or the more praticed commercial (admiralty ) law used in the english courts since 1666, cos they are completly different, legal and lawfull are NOT the same.....be very carefull with your definitions
  12. possibly a citreon van, will have to investigate if theres a switch, having to replace an LT thats "had it", and it looks like thats my only choice due to certain funding constraints
  13. I've been looking at new vans, and some of them are now comming with automatic stop start, anyone got any experience of this when towing, particularly when stoping at lights on inclines, how does this work with trailer brakes that are perhaps a little "lacking" in there efficiency cheers guys
  14. the price of oil will go back up, but not by much. the oil producers in the gulf are now refining it themselves and marketing the finished product rather than just crude, they will start to control the price rather than the greedy bas***d speculators who have done so in the past. as for firewood and RHI, it will stay steadyish till this bunch in goverment stop the payments, then start looking for the sheeple dumping the stuff in favour of the next chocolate firegaurd trend
  15. the big supermarkets sell milk and bread as loss leaders, have you ever noticed the dairy and bread cabinets are always at the backof the stores.....you have to walk past all the shiny bling in your face produce and this encorages you to buy more, the farmers have been screwed by the supermarkets for years, yes theyve got big shiny tractors, all the latest gear etc, but how many of you actually know that most farmers are actually living below the poverty level on wages, give the guys some support, yes cheap food is nice, but the guys producing it have to live as well, the only ones to profit are the big market chain money men
  16. unfourtunatlly this country has turned into a blame then claim culture, driven by greedy lawyers and corupt courts, the H&S culture does nothing to help this, a return to common sense and a relaliseation of what can happen if you screw something up, and it is your fault that it went wrong. yes we need rules and regulations, but applied with common sense , these guys in third world countries have always had common sense in bucketloads, its being lost here due to the nanny state and "cotton wool " children
  17. lack of certs has never stoped anyone before, its not going to stop anyone now
  18. there are a multitude of blade suppliers out there, unfourtunatley no one blade will do everything, width, thickness, tooth count and rake, all effect the cutting characteristics, determine what your main timber type will be and find what suits that, then keep a few different ones for the odd ball timbers that will pop up. you can expect to pay anything from a tenner to 30 plus for blades, and no gaurentee on any of them working any better than any other
  19. how do you frustrate an idiot ? tell you later!!!
  20. milwaukee......curently the best on the market, 4ahbatteries, new version comes with 5ah, and theyve just released a new 9ah heavy duty battery in the states, the drills are as powerfull as mains ones and the screww guns bang in 100mm screws all day
  21. SNH, a group of university educated muppets with no real idea of the real world, everything they touch turns to sh1t, if it says it in the big book we read at uni, then its the correct way to do it, and all the rest of you are wrong
  22. this old cookie of ag registration keeps popping up, and everyone comes up with the same, "my mate says, vosa says, joe blogs says", well its quite simple, go to the current version of the road traffic act and see what it says with regards to use of agricultural registered machines......THIS IS THE ONLY WORDING THAT APPLIES..... not what vosa, yur mate, or even pc plod thinks, and the only changes in the last 10 years are a speed increase for tractors to a whole 25mph, but only in england and wales, and a relaxation on the mgw of some of the previous sections. If you really need to find out get off your but and do the research, phoning vosa, or the dvla, will only get you the muppet at the other end of the phones opinion , NOT the actual law as it applies. there are NO grey areas in agri road rules, they have all been written down in black and white in the RTA, and very few ammendments have ever been made
  23. welcome to the world of FISA, and a few BIG contractors pulling the strings.......you were warned!!!
  24. blowing a gale and p'ng down, its like a winters day, never mind the 1st june
  25. wd40 is a waste of time, get yourself down to toolstation and get some of there proper release oil, when you start do do them, a bit of heat and a good wire brushing on the threads will work wonders
