  2. That looks Neat reminds me when i was a boy watching Dad Splicing etc ! and the sail makers palms ! He will still have them at home i could have them but hes Left handed im right handed Doh
  3. i have been involved with loler testing Man cages and telehandlers for years ! for insurance purposes. the requierments for any lifitng equiptment that is used for person lifitng is a 6 monthly inspection for both the machine and the cage and that cage would fail due to the two large bends in the structure therefore without a proper repair it would fail the test therefore any insurance would be invalid ! Like i said im not an angel and im not Knocking the job but in the vain of the Previous poster with concerns about the saw use i was just filling in a different gap ! At least the use of man cage is far far far better than someone standing in a bucket or on a pallet etc ! Just as has been said in other threads tthis is a public forum and who knows whos looking and there are people out there who would happly have nothing better to do than stir up some hassle for someone, this wasnt my intention and like i say i would do / use the same in similar situations if i had to to get a job done but simple stuff saves lives and hassle and fines ! I am well aware of the vast amonut of BS relating to H&S that has replaced common sense i have had far too long dealing with it in previous jobs ! David
  4. He did it as a wedding present so the news says BBC News - Record fine over tree felled to improve hot tub view
  5. On similar grounds then maybe the removal of all pics of the man box that would never pass a loler inspection ? Needs must im not into using machines or equiptment thats not fit for purpouse but on ocasions you sometimes have to bend the rules a little to your needs just asses the risk and be safe thats all !
  6. LOL i could let you know what was destined for the various Airfields and MOD instalations back in the days before 1992 if the Russkis had decided to punch up there Bombs was quite scarey that this side of the country would not exist to any real way we know today ! re the sludge is rank we used to take paper sludge never sweage sludge we had complaints from 10 miles away that we must be spreading humanpoo as it stank so muck it had to be incorperated same day and they used a sprayer to fill the air with perfume ! lol have lifted spuds out of ground that had humanpoo at one time and i tell you not nice to see remaims of well yes going up the web even 5 years afterwards somethings just dont rot ! Back to OPs problem im absolutly sure there is law against run off and spreading on waterlogged ground !

  19. Most general purpose grease will be both EP rated and rated for speed think of general greasing on machines like tractors and tellehandlers and excavators some is rotational loads slow speed eg wheel bearings some highspeed eg PTO shafts and flail head bearings and some is high load aplications like crane pins and boom pivots and stearing linkages and axle mounts all need good lubrication and the general purpose greases from the big suppliers will cover all these, how many farmers would have two or three grease guns and grades for every type of bearing situation ? not many some dont even have one good grease gun !
  20. any good LM2 grease is probably the cheepest and most avaliable type suited to the bearings on chippers etc Personally i tend to use waterproof grease from John deere as it does everything i want and as i use the digger ditching etc it doesent dissapear with prolonged use in wet environments and most regular greases are soap based ! also it is Blue so i can see where stuff has been and not been greased easily
  21. have seen the Ali ones leak where they have been beaten up ! im guessung the stainless one would be more "impact" resistant lol
