  1. but this senario leaves you open to the Vosa officer on the day ! which is never a good thing !
  2. you can go to any ifor dealer if its an ifor trailer and they will get you a new plate with the MAM you want on it ! i know two people with tipper trailer behind large vans (builder) both have done this ! its illegal to exceed the towing capacity so thus derate the trailer ! also tyre tred depth and lighting and markers are to be legal also the numberplate has to be for the vehicle towing and the correct type of plate not a lump o card with a penscrie number on it lol oh and a secondary coupling how far from home you going over 56km oneway your into tacho teritory !
  3. as the trailer has the "potential" to carry more than the tow motor technically they could get upset over it in reality its not so well known and as oyu say you wont be loaded above the tow vehicles max tow weight then you could get away with it ! The vosa guy who stopped your brother sounds like a jobs worth ! there is nowhere anything mentioned that the vehicle has a tow bar your not allowed to drive it WTF you may be in the realms of a tacho if your doing this for work ! its quite a mine feild and the best bit the old bill are not all that clued up the traffic officer who came out to the accident did not know about weights and limmits etc ! like been said the info is there if you trawl for it !
  4. i know of two gkns taken off due to issues of oil and overpressuring gearboxes ! but know of a few that are diamonds ! disco gears also good ! not so for towing as brings up everything ! has the truck been remaped yet may be worth a though as Td5alive do remaps that make them much more drivable and actually incresses the fuel economey ! Nothing to do with them just heard good things about them !
  5. absolutly ! it all depends on the use and condtions when harvesting or drilling onthe farm everything was blown out daily and the oils changed ahead of or on schedule the reccomended change on my landrover is 6000miles trust me never hets toit before its done 4000 tops as its always towing and being used hard not abused but used ! being an ag fitter by training i will asses as i come to a machine always good practice to be ahead as you say than behind and also doesent take long to give kits a good rinse of with pressure washer now and then cleen well kept kit can say a lot for a bussiness!
  6. ah fair enough tis the wee hours now so all can be confussed !
  7. depends on the engine air cooled service times are usually shorter than water cooled and depends on the oils used and the agressiveness of the work its done ! but anywhere between 100 and 300 hours is the usuall check the manual or ring the manufacture ! there recomendations are there for good reason lol !
  8. yeah the one i use is ok witht he trailer but i have had my splitter in my avatar on it and um well that makes her bounce a little lol !
  9. Got a 8150 and otex trailer crane at a place locally i get to have a play when they need it ! greaat tractors nice cab and good in the woods and on the road ! and that comes from a Deere Driver ! lol

  17. its one of those super lightweight jobbies
  18. ah ok maybe the sanstone down ther eis harder ! wouldnt suprise me ! also depends on the auger motor i know the one my mate has is huge for the aplication lol almost like a drive unit of a 2 or 3 ton 360 ! but it does keep digging you do have to feather it into the cut sometimes but 90% it just keeps going his is a early 90s machine ! old school but as you say well handy !
  19. strange that im from sussex and the Opico i use is based ontop of the hills at Fairlight basicly a huge sandstone and ironstone lump covered thinly in clay and we reguarly bore holes 18" by 3 feet deep into the sandstone ! maybe it was a duff machine or motor but we dont find it difficult or slow ? every job is different ! there are a lot used in horticuture for screwing in the poly tunnel hoop ground poles in and out !
  20. where does the flow come from on board pump or from the tractor ? if from the tractor it may be that the flow is the wrong way either try the pipes the other way round or put the spool leaver in other direction ?
  21. theres a guy in essex who does loads of bits but to be honset there an engine and hydraulic pump and motors and chains and pins ! nothing a good ag engineer cant sort out Microplant - Sales - Skidster
  22. i have used an opico done loads of hours on one my mate has ! very good kit but being skid steer oyu will tear up grass if not carefull ! will bore 18" holes no worrys as thats what is on most of the time for what he uses it for ! have forks and buckets too it good
