  1. it would be great to do a protest or more again like the last time but i fear due to the thousands of new stupid public order and suspition of terorism and all that old bull kaka that the labour governmet passed the old bill would be forced to arrest most people who blockaded a fuel depot or garage or did a go slow on the motorways ! its how ridiculus this country has become bowing down to stupid laws that make it impossible to carry on ! it really sadens me ! For the record i remeber buying diesel when i first started driving in 1995 at 45.5p a litre wish it was still around that price now !!!!
  2. yes all fuel be it for a DERV vehicle or for a NRMM will or should be ULSD one dyed red for rebate taxation! Hopefully the addition of bio will compensate for the lack of lubrication from the loss of the sulphur also with only 7% bio the effect on seals should be minimal not that any degredation of seals is good ! oh and the cost of the diesel will go up as the process to remove the sulphur costs moeny rather than just pump it outa the ground refine it and sell ! Read the links above and it describes the reasons and effects !
  3. i only buy old old steel tools as they were made from the right stuff when steel was steel and boys were scared !!!! any of the good swedish steel axes will hold well the german steel was always good too as well as old shefield steel too ~:~
  4. Grandfors if you want it to stay sharp i fear the northen tools effot will be made of metal dfromage I E cheese steel and wont take or hold an edge ! i hve a grandfors forest axe and hell does it keep an edge !
  5. Fuel Quality Directive Gas Oil Requirements also worth a good read !
  6. Deere will not honour any work on there new tractors that havent been run on ULS red as they are now producing Teir 4 engines which require the new ULSRD All fule supplied should meet the new BS standard as it is upto the suppliers to make sure they do or they are also liable for a telling of ! ULSD AND ULSRD are allowed to be supplied with a BIO content of UPTO 7% this is the bs standard ! Here is a qoute from this site worth a read makes it all clear ! http://www.smmt.co.uk/downloads/Changes-Spec-NR-Gas-Oil-261110.pdf
  7. the "new red is white d red for rebate purposes ! pump fuel dyed red for rebate purposes !
  8. the red diesel for off road equipment now has to be ULS its still rebated fuel and dyed and tracered red but some of the price incress in red is due to this new reg of red having to be ULS and more to do with fluctuating world oil price and our robbing government ! the only old school gas oil ie red diesel non ULS that is avaliable is for heating fuel where a 35 second oil is requred the use of this in offroad equipment is now governed against !
  9. grandfors take a very very good edge and there superb steel !
  10. last big fire i had a fire engine turn up i know the crew comander he said i should have known it was you ! i went what the are you doing here ! they had had 4 calls from the downs thinking the site was on fire lol !
  11. here here ! there is enoug rubbish and other muck to move pick up etc ! there are roads to be sweeped canals to be cleared squats to be emptied and cleaned up ! hospitals and town council lands and other amenity lands ! all need cleaning tyding etc ! all on benifit who are fit to work but not working should only get there benifits when they have done say 25 hours a week of meanial work then maybe they would look faster for a proper job etc !
  12. Granfors ?? i know they make them !
  13. they use them for rail cleaning of leaves and stuf noisey as usually have a genny built onto them high pressure jetters and sometimes traction gell aplicators ! even better are rail grinders for reprofiling the rails about 30 grinder heads aparently and sparks everywhere ! lol
  14. cool ok ill look was being lazy !
  15. You sir are a star i had the pleasure of being in the same room as one of these in germany but hadnt remembered the name ! i loved it so warm so good on the eye and fantastic center peice to the room 1
  16. What do you guys reckon to this stuff as well ? it works for the MOD so why not saw users ? CELOX Haemostatic Granules - 35g - Stops Bleeding Fast! on eBay (end time 11-Mar-11 16:58:53 GMT)
  17. ill have an ask around and find it in print if i can ! are you planning to use the forest log trailer loaded on the road ? off road you can do what you like ! on road you will have to comply with construction and use regs ! maybe worth finding a copy and having a read !
  18. Tax Booze and Fags !!! Sorry but with all the inherent risks involved in smoking anyone under 35 who smoke should know better and should pay for any treatment they need from smoking related illness etc ! Fags should be £12 - £20 a pack !
  19. depends where you get them try to get an SKF or RHP bearings there good ! They wont cost vast amounts there is such a mark up on bearings its outragous ! also have a chat with the bearing guys there may be a different seal type that would be better suited to the aplication maybe ! i know i have changed some rubber seaqled ones for metal seald ones for rough use they keep out muck and rubbish better in some apps !
  20. Pass on that but what i posted was from Trainers from lantra who train tractor drivers all over the country and they were there with the HSE i asked three guys i know who train trainers etc and they all say the same ! Basicly i think if your going to use it for work etc and under PUWER and risk assesments you would find that you may need to brake it anyway as if something went wrong you may fall foul of the law ! does the axle / axles on the trailer have brakes fitted at present just not connected up etc ? if so a pair of brake rams etc are not expensive so maybe better to fit than not also lots of brake faliures on tractors are from using them with no or ineffective poorly maintained trailer brakes ! tink of the effort the brakes have to exsert to stop the full load ! trust me i have seen the damage cooked brakes etc can do internaly to a back axle ! the newer the tractor the more hassle it is as the bits of worn lining/plates etc get into all and every oilway etc and a full back end stripdown isnt uncommon at great expense ! i know i would fit brakes to my trailers as i know how effective they are and how much safer i would feel to be able to stop in a shorter distance in a hurry or just the stress releif on the tractors braking system ! David
  21. Right as there is a HSE and Lantra training day close by and i know the instructors etc i have been and asked them today ! Law is 750KG UNBRAKED MAX regardless of prime mover ! 140000 kg Ag vehicle GTW if the brakes are on a spool or mechanically applied with a lever etc 14000kg and over they have to be intergrated ie automatiaclly applied to the trailer from the prime movers braking curcuit ! and Max road spead for any tractor in this country excluding fastracs and Mogs is 20 mph or 32 kmh ! if over this speed suspenstion and the like come into play as well as the traailer having to comply with regulations regarding braking suspenstion etc ALL trailers have to conform to construction and use regarding lighting aswell ! I know i know its a pain but if you use them on the road you can and may be prossecuted if the dont meet regs etc ! hope this helps !
  22. the buthchers block brushes are used by blacksmiths as there much much tougher and last so long on hot metal rather than a normal wire brush ! http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.stalkersuk.com/images/014.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.stalkersuk.com/product_info.php%3Fproducts_id%3D401%26osCsid%3D6075e5dbbc4fcfb23c8c316d6bf5169c&usg=__Vfw1ZOx8dF3IR01U9c80FZwDy5I=&h=653&w=350&sz=98&hl=en&start=37&zoom=1&tbnid=dcbPnKhcwsvRzM:&tbnh=171&tbnw=90&ei=BYxlTeftEYGs4Qb7pqndBg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbutchers%2Bblock%2Bbrush%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1415%26bih%3D648%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C1082&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=1008&vpy=246&dur=156&hovh=307&hovw=164&tx=92&ty=241&oei=2YtlTYGoD4uChQfH0NTyBQ&page=3&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:18,s:37&biw=1415&bih=648
