What's your favorite tree to work on / look at?

I like Cedar of lebanon there are some nice ones in Stanmer park Brighton and there is one on the hill side in Lynmouth great looking trees ! -

i loved walking out in the woods in germany ! loads of stacked cord and not much theft ! italy was great the amount of comunity wood procesing is cool ! but i guess we have it easy hear some of the places i was traveling through are cut of for upwards of 2 months a year due to snow in the alps etc ! so its like there cattle fodder its an essentail supply !

As for the topic i happen to see lots of this kinda thing but i think we are all guilty of bending the advice ocasionally but there is bending it and then being stupid ! personal pet hate is footwear i dont care what people wear in a workshop or site long as its steel toed ! just to many times i see contracrtors and installers wearing trainers etc wagon drivers machine operators like the google or safety specs and hearing protection (loud machinery) when using saws drills chisels and cut of saws especialy on building sites you get one pair of eyes and you cant grow new ones and hearing is difficult to fix ! !

Me and best mate rechassised his 130 on galv chassis and then converted it to three way tipper hes an ag engnier by trade sweet set up as engine driven pump etc was standard dropside body and converted it to toipper on the new chassis my 110 hicap when i rechassis it may well go dropside tipper as its more practiacl if going the tipper route to have dropsides and three way tip and im not new to LR or hicaps had the present one since 1998 and deal with many daily

Have you tried Plumpton College especially as your close to them if you have the trees they can arange the assesor etc ! I have done several NPTC tests with them saws and machinery and the assesors they use seam to be good guys and are knowlegable as they should be !

You have a good point there i have seen several woodlands and plantations recently that have been left in awfull states but also some that are really well maintained ! its our environment and we should look after it for us and our future selves !

It has always fascinated me on my travels the europeans use and atitude to wood fuel its processing and handling etc :dontknow: take this idea i know it would takealot for people to thnik about such systems and this would be more for your up market yuppie type wood user but these systems are in place on the continent like cutting and splitting m3 buddles and strapping to dry then sawing them in frames to even logs ? i would love to beable to make a fuel wood enterprise run and work on there principles hey ho just my sunday night observations !
