  2. Its all down to common sense and the right attitude at the end of the day someone had to learn them selves to then be able to pass that knowlage on to others ! The competence scheme is very good and the training provided by trainerss will and does get those green or seasoned to look at the safty and use aspects in a controlled environment also at the end of it you get a cretificate and card to prove to others that require to see it that you have had relevent training and on that day passed the required assesments to be able to have said certificate etc I personally learned from my father then went on to do my CS30/31(a+b lol ) and cs36 whilst at college doing my Ag machinery course ! that showed me the correct ways and ironed out my bad habbits still doesent mean im an A1 opperator or a Z- opperator i know my limits i can asses the situation and i will call upon more experience collegues if required ! Common sense is being lost amoung the miriad of H+S info alot of which is very usefull but can be a drag ! I have been using ladders and steps since as far as i can remember but tomorrow work has arranged a safe use of ladders course for me and several others maybe as a excercise to tick a box but hell i know i will learn something from it maybe be told alot of stuff i knew but as a reminder and learning is always usefull hopefully i will be safer although alot should be common sense ! David

  13. Hey as said allready your a strong guy with a good strong mind and attitude im sure you will get through this a stronger person ! I hope your mum gets the best treatment and wish her all the best sounds like she has a great son beside her David
  14. MAM and GTW are two different figures landrovers GTW is around 6500kgs so 3000kgs for a standard 110 loaded and 3500kgs of trailer and load !
  15. the legalitys are even better than that IF the Trailer weight plate says 3500kgs MAM then the towing vehicle must also state that it is allowed to tow 3500kgs so you take a pick up rated to tow 3200kgs and put a trailer plated to 3500kgsMAM on the back you are illegal and un insured ! due to the fact the trailer has the potential ! there for you have to have the trailer derated on the weight plate ! Dont worry all Landrovers except the freelander are rated to tow 3500kgs ! Lots of pick ups are not ! its not the old ill that will do you its VOSA ! i know this as after a recent accident with my old 16 foot ifor i had to tell the Police officer the regs etc for trailers as he "wasnt so hot" on the knowlage lol !!!! Just goes to show !
  16. I live next door to the secutary !!!! Small world lol ! They run lots of training days etc as mentioned
  17. iirc the place round here its anything between £400 - £600 depending on whats required not sure if that includes aranging the test fee etc but usually includes use of there vehicle trailer combo
  18. yup Dan said same ! silly country we live in !
  19. Charlie at the time he did his it came ack with just the classes he had tested for ! and i know for a fact he did the c+e afterwards as we both ranted about it they may have changed stance but this was 6 7 years ago ! At the time we seamed miffed that you could take 44 tones of wagon and drag around but not a trailer over 750kgs behind a car lol !!!
  20. medium rare with chips and mustard please
  21. just as an asisde doing both your class 1 and 2 LGV (HGV) still doesent give yout he trailer entitlemnet on your car license ! stupid i know but my friend did both class 1 and 2 and still had to do the trailer test for his lisence aswell stupid government ideas !
