Cat C is slight damage repairable and Cat D is economic write off ie old cars not worth the time to reppair both require a VIC check to get the logbooks back from DVLA and you have to go to your nearest VOSA center which are becoming less and less ! strange this thread because were next to an acident repair guy who is doing more work for Insurance companys on cars that would have been written of 2 - 3 years ago now there paying out for them to be repaired rather than scrapped ?

  5. i have erm some esaily obtainable specialist sockets here that will remove most locking wheel nuts ! there not as tough as they seam !
  6. nope im thouroughly independant only way to be, depends on the ecu and scantool used but yes can get quite accurate idea of whats going on ! Ford would say you have to use Idis but there is other stuff out there ! egrs you can usually sort your self turbos can be checked etc these here electronic engines are childs play component wise its the lectricery bits that confused the issue inside there just still suck squeeze bang blow ! hth David
  7. equicar had the lower pannels last time i looked too ! there are many brakets you will need for the tub or why not build a flat deck on it with dropsides very usefull and then you could build a box that fits on it ?
  8. its all do able just getting hold of the parts ! i have a hicap tub off of a 110 thats going spare after i put a flat bed on mine
  9. hmmm unburnt fuel could be a dribbly injector black smoke is usually over fueling blue is oil and steam is head gasket lol ! may pay to have it looked at at least plugeged in see if anything comes up re codes and look at the fueling on live data ?
  10. any of the masseys and fords long as the engine oil is black not mikly and they dont smoke to much or rattle tomuch will do you fine the leylands are good solid machines too

  15. my ifor gx8x4 floor went west i have some 6mm ally cequer plate in sheets just over 8 x4 as trhe trailer is just over 8x4 there pucker no ply to rot 6mm thick sheet weighs 50 kg and wont ever rot and takes all the abuse i can throw at it ! I do have a couple of sheets left lol !

  17. before i would splash out on a battery i would really check the charging system with a meter or two and once warm a 200 will start just by blowing in the intact almost lol ! mine i can push start on the flat on my own ! battery wise get a good quality standard lead acid they last well and will do everything you want !

  19. 200 or 300 tdi ? 300s really seam not to loike the cold and also suffer from bad earth connections always worth trying the jump lead to from the neg terminal to the block somewhere nice and clean see if this helps also the alternator maybe going slowly if you have flat battery it may be leaking to earth slowly or its not putting out what it should good to test both the voltage and the current but you will need a clamp amp meter or battery tester or you may have a duff cell in the battery !

  21. M reg is a 130 3500kg GVW custom three way tipper and tuned wit VNT and Full width intercooler and EGT and boost control built by my Business partner with some help from me ! My 110 is standard (as a landrover could be ) 200tdi this pic was about 3 weeks after we finished the conversion to flat deck from Hicap Both are on Galvanised Richards Chassis both like to work for a living ! The 110 is going to get the VNT treatment sometime hopefully soon if we get the time and i havent decided what im going to do exhaust wise yet :hmmmm::hmmmm::hmmmm:
