  1. To be honest Barry the local JD dealer bought the new direct collect out to one of the sights we take care of and it's a good mower but it's no where near as good at cutting long wet grass as the Iseki. On paper it might out punch it but the reality is very different. None of the contractors locally have moved over to them yet.
  2. Guy by me with same machine as mine charging £15 a bag to split with processor he does nothing elsa but contract firewood processing.
  3. Ohhhh bloody auto correct. I'm cheery when it's going out the gate
  4. J d are ok but they just copy market leaders like Iseki and Etesia look at there new direct collect mower it's exactly the same as the Iseki. We have a Etesia hydro 80 for sale if your interested will cut larger lawns with ease and still go through a garden gate.
  5. Got mine on a 20 inch bar I reach for it over the 361 or 260 even when in smaller stuff.
  6. Now if you could make it so they were spring loaded you would be on to a winner. One thing you need to take in to mind is these ???!!!! Thing they have a right to nick stuff and if you hurt them in the process they will target you even more. I've seen it happen in the end the guy took a JCB and destroyed there sight and served 3 years for it.
  7. I want to make £200 a day before i even think about machine fuel & everything elsa . It does not play out like that all the time When I started out in this game I did not charge enough was happy to be working and earning a wage but things change and for a viable long term business you need to price accordingly. Plus firewood production is hard work I would want £275 for splitter and £375 for the processor they supply tractor for the latter.
  8. I wander if Tony Martin was given that advice??
  9. My findings are as follows for green Larch / scots pine 1 ton = 2.5cube Ash. 2.4 cube Beech 1.8 cube Sycamore 2cube Cheery 2.2 I don't no how long some of thesa species were at roadside before they were deliverd .
  10. We have recently taken on a barn as we could not keep up with demand. We season in bags and keeping them dry prior to delivery was becoming a pain. As it's not at our yard we have had to invest in another forklift a little counterbalance, it's really surprised me how good it is.
  11. Impressive bit of kit. What size pieces will it separate out.
  12. Same here blowing a hooley
  13. Woods more dense round a union put log on it's side and cut down through one end then the other. Your saw will need a dam good sharpen now:001_smile:
  14. 1m3 sat on pallets
  15. It's doable but you would not want to keep that pace day in day out. If I'm on my own I can do 28 30 bags a day. Two of you in perfect size softwood could clear 50 bags.
  16. I'm giving up logs where do I get an Xmas tree plantation
  17. Your more likely to sell smaller loads and a 900 by 900 bag is a builders bag so 2or 3 on delivery and 4 /6 on trailer . We offer multiple loads but most new customers are going for 900 x 900 which suits us as we can sell them at £95
  18. He will make more in 900 x 900 bags at a guess I would say he can get £90 each but not £180 for a 1.8 loose load
  19. Yep to get kilned saves double handling
  20. 700 cube good luck it's going to get boring.
  21. Heater matrix . Take a tub of Vaseline when you get a price
  22. Second the birch bark seems to work better in the younger bark.
  23. A 560 xp is a lot of money's worth of saw for the occasioned user. There are some good second hand saws out there with a few miles on the clock just take some finding.
  24. My pal does 3000 cube and employs 1 he fills the bags from crates by hand. Never seen an automated system.
