  1. a cutomer came to our yard, some years back, in a smart jag, he carefully lifted the kids out into their wellies, and came across the yard to pick up his bag of logs leaving the back passenger door open, the ridgeback though this was ideal and jumped into the back, so I shouted at him, and he bounded into the front seat, by the time I got him out there was mud everywhere,
  2. perhaps we should send our uk wet wood over there, at least it would dry better
  3. parking on a double yellow, always risky!
  4. quickly check:biggrin: the pm s
  5. Ouch! hope that heals well. doing well with the one handed posting though!!
  6. If you dont mind me asking, do they need to be green to use for hedgeing, and pointed or straight?? Good thread btw
  7. and if you get up any speed on the quad it will fill the trailer with mud, how do I know? ......

Well, never put one nail where two will do
  12. be really interesting do dib in a few rows and see which management produced the spooky look, such a yawn waiting the 300 yrs
  13. There is a house at the end, so presumably could have been planted as an avenue
  14. Do you think they were pollarded at some time on the past to grow like that?
  15. Usually the passenger directs you to come back for the first few yards then completely disappears from view, sometimes to be found nattering to passers by
  16. but are there any trees that far north?
  17. great clip, not the one ive seen where the guy just had one bird on a string which dived in when it saw a fish, apparently they let the sting round their neck loose every twelve fish so that they can have one to swallow. If I remember right a cormorant eats thirty pound of fish a day, sounds too much.
  18. Is that where they tie a string round the birds throat so it cant swallow the fish??
  19. All land belongs to someone, so does the wood that lays on it, but you may find that the landowner is happy for you to tidy it up for him/her. If its on my farm, the its just 'cos I havent got there yet to pick it up and stick it in next years log pile. 2. The longer the better, if it was a dead branch it will have a lower moisture content, try a log, if there is any hissing when it starts to burn then leave it a year.
  20. has anyone got any idea how much eucalyptus you get per acre per year, or larch?
  21. I have been buying it from a painting and decorating store, (quite a few seem to stock it,) as I did all my windows and doors (oak) with four coats I was using quite a lot, but dont buy a bigger can than you need though as it goes off in contact with air, (same as boiled linseed oil) you want it to go off or harden once it has been absorbed into the wood, but a part used can may be a bit gooey after a few months.
  22. Tung Oil is fantastic, it is good for outdoors and in, made from Tung Nut so totally edible, paint it on, rag off after an hour and the job is done.
  23. thats got to be faster than anything hydraulic
  24. I would make sure the hole is as large or larger than the nail, are you using copper nails?
