  1. Usually the passenger directs you to come back for the first few yards then completely disappears from view, sometimes to be found nattering to passers by
  2. great clip, not the one ive seen where the guy just had one bird on a string which dived in when it saw a fish, apparently they let the sting round their neck loose every twelve fish so that they can have one to swallow. If I remember right a cormorant eats thirty pound of fish a day, sounds too much.
  3. Is that where they tie a string round the birds throat so it cant swallow the fish??
  4. Is yours the vertical shaft or horizontal shaft engine???
  5. All land belongs to someone, so does the wood that lays on it, but you may find that the landowner is happy for you to tidy it up for him/her. If its on my farm, the its just 'cos I havent got there yet to pick it up and stick it in next years log pile. 2. The longer the better, if it was a dead branch it will have a lower moisture content, try a log, if there is any hissing when it starts to burn then leave it a year.

  7. I have been buying it from a painting and decorating store, (quite a few seem to stock it,) as I did all my windows and doors (oak) with four coats I was using quite a lot, but dont buy a bigger can than you need though as it goes off in contact with air, (same as boiled linseed oil) you want it to go off or harden once it has been absorbed into the wood, but a part used can may be a bit gooey after a few months.
  8. Tung Oil is fantastic, it is good for outdoors and in, made from Tung Nut so totally edible, paint it on, rag off after an hour and the job is done.

  12. I made some for the first time this year, 4 people washing, scratting (grinding) pressing for about four hours we got 75 litres. We luckily found a 60 litre press and scratter we could hire, but we had built up a powerful thisrt by the end! Bottling the first lot this week, I ll let you know if its not fatal.
  13. Down here we do a lot of chestnut, I went to Aberdeen once to look at a farm, all the trees were growing horizontal and the farming far too tough for a southerner so I settled back down here.
