  1. buy the wood, once you own it you will love it, and find a way of making a few quid here and there if /when you need to. Nobody can nick it in the night (well only little bits) and its tax free.

  9. does anyone from their experience and observation think that it a grinding wheel working too hot can not only pick up steel in its pores, but could also push bits of stone into the steel workpiece. Personally I have never used a grinder on a chain, but I can see by the animated discussion here that results are variable.

  14. Tony, what does an elephant hawk moth live on, I found one last night walking up a bit of old stirling board, but I cant believe that is natural habitat, when I went back for a photo it had gone. Impressive though. Rod
  15. I have one I was given as a present, thought it was a gimmick at first but I used to split apple ring all winter for years with it and I still use it. The dogs stop it from sticking in the wood which I think is the most exhausting aspect of the job. Using it one handed gives me tennis elbow for some reason.
  16. If you can have a fire then get something with a big muckfork on, I have a telescopic and you can drive through bramble six feet high, it rips it out the ground and they all lock on the fork, stand by for an awesome burn up
