  3. Rumour has it that Top Gear were looking at getting 2 husky chainsaws for an episode to be broadcast in March. Anyone heard or seen anything
  4. It ate it Wednesday afternoon just after finishing job. I was an hour and 20min away from home. It dumped a load of clutch oil on the floor. Did sound like release bearing. Will find out today when it gets sorted
  5. When I either ride the clutch or press it to change gear I hear a strange noise coming from it. It feels like bearing problems.It doesn't make a noise when in neutral or when I'm driving only when changing gear. Has anyone any idea what it could be and what sort of cost I may expect to repair it. Thanks in advance. Marc

  7. Padman. I'm doing coni job in ruddington in the next week or so any chance of tipping some. They can have logs as well
  8. But not in direct sunlight. When you starting up you have to make it up as you go. With all the competition, those with money to waste and those that lie through there teeth to sell there logs, we the honest worker will only invest with what we make

  12. Split when the weather is dry. Stack on a pallet or 2, pallet on top, cover with tarp. Some people melt holes in the bags. I find they season better if you split when the woods dry (not seasoned) stop the mold growing
  13. It is a risk to the public it's next to a play area but our county council are a little bit slow and lazy. I was thinking it was the landowners responsibility. Just checking
  14. I've been asked to quote to remove a LARGE dead standing horse chestnut for a local parish council and have just found out they rent the land from the local farm estate. Is the council responsible for the tree or the land owner also how long should it take for the council to remove a tpo on a dead tree. Any help/advice greatly appreciated
  15. Make something like a shelf bracket with 2 uprights as wide as your ladders and 2 tie down points on the uprights. Bolt to rear side of your van level with top. Make 2 uprights for up front to bolt to top. Or just looking at other tree surgeons website and see how they do it

    Been to Newton Abbot for a days and north wales, north allerton, and morcombe. Done some 2 day jobs in st albans and margate
  17. Try them bags they drop beer barrels on when unloading. A mates father in law who has alot to do with real ale has made his boss one. Its very tightly woven bag full of corks
  18. Depends on what u chipping. I find that 3 bulk loads of coni makes about 1 load chipped and about 5 to 6 loads of oak, fruit wood, hawthorn etc make 1 load chipped

  20. Just a suggestion. I wouldn't store wood that close to your fire it could cause trouble. Just had a customer who's wooden mantle caught above he fire catch fire when she was asleep. Luckily he husband came home to discover it
  21. I have 2 bolt on chassie boxes from my smiley faced transit for sale. If interested let me know I'll sort out dimensions tomorrow

  23. I've just taken my old entec chipper to bits to change the fan blades and check bearings. When I removed the flywheel which is attached to the back plate I noticed the flywheel was not moving freely. I removed the back plate off the flywheel shaft and noticed 2 bearings. 1 moves freely the other stiff. I would guess change both. Is there anything else I should check while its in bits. (the larger bearing is fine. Any advice greatly appreciated
