  9. I've been self employed for 20plus years now and am thinking of employing someone for 16hours a week to help ease the workload (not enough work for a full week yet). On the money side of things what would i need to do (tax,ni etc). How much extra paper work is it. All advice will be greatly revived. Marc
  10. Get enough dry sticks together and use a firelighter to start. Should be boiling in a couple of minutes
  11. I would bolt the ram down as you start to split knotty stuff things will bend in the middle. Just a thought
  12. The leaver on mine sits on top of the ram and acts as a second clamp to hold the ram down and also when the ram returns to fully closed it pushes the leaver into neutral saves braking things
  13. A chap i work for is looking for a carver to do some work for him. He runs a large business park set in woodland and is looking for someone to do the odd carving or 2 around the wood. Anyone interested pm me and i will send you his contact details.
  14. What he said. Change oil again after a few hours use
  15. The bio stuff is in all diesel now. New eu rules or something. With combines they advise you drain your tank when storing it for winter then changing you fuels filter before and during use. Same with anything diesel if its been stood awhile. If it ain't loosing power don't worry. But do check it regularly
  16. Mr Pickles still driving and delivering. He's a good bloke
  17. Not say it was my problem its just that the general public think they can help themself to anything. Watched a couple of guys taking wood from a wood which had been recently felled. Both driving posh cars , chainsaw in hand, no ppe on a busy main road. They could at least of asked
  18. It wasn't his (on council land) i wouldn't mind but he left all the rubbish. I am all for the untrained idiot hurting themselves, they may learn something or get some proper training
  19. Just forgot all his h&s training, ppe and how to use a chainsaw. Not to mention stealing wood. Or is it ok to take wood laying on the side of the road
  20. Watch a member of the public chainsaw a fallen tree today. On the corner of a busy road and footpath. No warning sign's no tape no chainsaw trousers or boots but he did have a chainsaw helmet which he never used the visor o and a hi viz vest. So fully covered for h & s. What a Plonka
  21. Mine just ripped off the cross member it attached to and bent the ram. Over loaded with soil
  22. KK with a Swedish log. No need to feed the fire cook and boil at the same time. Perfect
  23. Conifer seasoned
  24. That's me stuffed then because I run a white transit tipper. Saying that the scrap collectors round our end must a different sort because they run around in blue and white or red and white transits. I even spotted one that wasn't a transit
