  1. If you really want to make it last long term if you hack it back hard at one side you could weave and bend in lowering branches and it will green up eventually. The secret to conifers is regular short back and sides.

    Secateurs

Not tried fiskars, Always had felcos. Original pair lasted 17years until I lost them.
  3. I've seen one similar and a coleague suggested herbicide damage as the surrounding area was regularly suppressed with strong commercial products. The whole tree looked sick. It could've been salts perhaps?
  4. Hellfire missiles as well Dean just to be sure!
  5. Checked sellers address, its out my way and its not an area of brilliant commercial reputation in the past. Its a come and go business district. But thats prejudice of me. a couple of decent reputable firms are nearby. However I would not buy from such a lousy uninformed description. Anyone got a liquid cooled chainsaw? If so I'd like to know can you use it one handed? Has the radiator ever been perforated in use? Did you get scalded? The air cooling makes this extra special then!
  6. I got a macbook in 2005. Have upgraded its hard drive and memory and replaced the screen backlight cable(DIY) but still going strong. We use it daily probably for an average of 2 hours. I changed because of all the window errors etc. But a friend in the I.T game says windows is much improved now. For what little you expect of yours is it not repairable? I too fancied the mac mini for multimedia but it does have limitations due to size and you can end up with a mess of plug in peripherials.
  7. If you do go down the modify route and use someone else to do it make sure that access to service items is possible, side panels can come off, oil dipstick/filter still do'able. Obvious but its amazing how some focus at just what they are doing and not the bigger picture.
  8. Update to my wasp trap, Got 36 in the dissolved toffee solution. 177 in the strawberry jar and the pear jar is successful but not emptied yet. Probably got less than 10 bluebottles in all jars, Some of the wasps are bigger. Queens? but not hornets.
  9. Coach Carter is a good watch based on true story. I actually liked the deleted scenes as good as the film, should of left em in.
  10. Blind side and the lady, both inspiring true stories with the underdog prevailing despite bad circumstances. I prefer these sorts of films to the car chase, violent, tits out movies now mass produced for the masses, despite the huge expense and effort put into them, at the end you go " O right what shall I do now?" and move on to something else. Whereas both the movies above and others you think about and recall for days afterwards.
  11. Is this the best thing to do? I know Bcs are always updating and modifying as any manufacturer, but you do end up with this obsolete situation with them. I don't know what to suggest for alternatives either!
  12. Whats with the toffee crisp carton in the desert pic. Isnt everyone enjoying the good life Pat? P.s no offence at the Bee question earlier. Results so far. Crushed strawberry is the winner at the moment with about 20 wasps followed by crushed pear with 5 and dissolved toffee has 4. Apple has been suggested as it ferments into alcohol better. Still lots of wasps around and they are now raiding the compost bin. The battle continues...
  13. Never known it. Bees seem to go for more wholesome food. Wasps behave like louts and get drunk. However bluebottles join the party:thumbup1: All the trap is a jar with lid on and small holes punched in the lid (not bee size) add water and either a bit of jam or apples, until its half full. Fruit for taste/bait water for death. Don't worry Pat, I have been environmental and resourcefully aware all my life.
  14. Mixed fortunes this year, a huge success is strawberries in barrels until now. The wasps have arrived. Putting out drown jar traps. My other menace is slugs. I pick them and throw them into the large pond nearby, fish love em.
  15. It could be a very big whoopsie!! I think its a case of tenant being responsible if you chop a tree down the owner wanted to stay up. It does happen and the tenants get kicked out or leave with no deposit/bond returned.

    Husqvarna 50!

Go to Guide bars Enter model and the answer is 13-18 inch:thumbup1:
  17. . I prefer the husky/ oregon etc, equal left and right cutters. rather then consecutive same side cutters on the even number inch bar lengths.
  18. Thanks, it would be less likely to grind things by accident as well, at least not so severely.
  19. Have to agree, I have been kind to youngsters in the past and it has not done them any good. Paid them well. They use a decent pay as a benchmark, then refuse accept less in the future and get disappointed. I like the idea of helping out others and the underdog. I have worked with several people with learning difficulties(Not in Arb!) You spend tremendous amounts of time supervising and redoing the work. Which is noble but myself I actually do less than I would've working alone. Qualifications are not the same as employability. The gulf is widening with our academic obsessed policies these days. Business minded effective effeciency is not learnable in a lifetime for many. Would you pay the same to hire a 50hp tractor as a 200hp? However a good worker deserves to be monitored regularly and rewarded for his value, Alot of Bosses say their company is doing well but fail to share the credit appropriately with employees. Well done to the OP for posting and taking onboard the comments.
  20. Would be interested in more info or a link to this, running it lighter makes sense to me.
  21. :001_rolleyes:Whoops and I meant the rim not sprocket. I need to spend more time on the bench thread:blushing:
  22. Metasequoia glystroboides dawn redwood. is thin and elegant. Pencil cedar, incense cedar are evergreen and narrow.
  23. Im going to get the sprocket next time I order from chainsawbars. Because I have some old chains and bars lying around. Just to try them. I Also have 357xp so flexible for me. I always think its better to go narrower as width is going to sap power. But on the bigger saws you need the strength.
  24. Meteor kits are recommended by spud. Try this thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/33857-whats-your-bench-today.html 357s are worth fixing I think.
  25. Cathay pacific was good Air New Zealand ok Royal Brunei took forever with 4 stops but was the cheapest. Absolutely no alcohol tolerated Also other reasons I wouldn't fly with them again. This November going with Korean air. If you stop over think about it ben. Are you a tatie, meat and veg man? If so you will starve in Hong Kong I did.
