  1. WD40? Give it a good coating and leave to soak in
  2. I would say if you want to work under it don't get anything too bright or you will be dazzled and have bad shadows, and possibly a headache. You really want lights as high as possible, pointing down. Maybe mount a long pole on the firewood processor, and wiring via an Anderson plug or similar
  3. That celtic cross is a good one. There's a big knob next to the M74 - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.4581116,-3.6454048,3a,18.7y,3.66h,90.74t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQgfoffs3E-eSmhMsjlbubQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en And a zigzag next to the A9 at Moy, I think the story is it was the guy's initials, a W or M, possibly part of it missing now though? https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@57.383517,-4.0182916,1530m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en And a symbol in the heather in Aberdeenshire - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/57%C2%B010'31.1%22N+2%C2%B052'48.1%22W/@57.1857272,-2.8839739,1578a,20y,168.75h,37.06t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d57.1753083!4d-2.8800194?hl=en
  4. Got an infrared thermometer, ran the machine for approx. 30 mins and got a reading of 66*C on most of the auxiliary pipe fittings - don't know if it would have got hotter than that. That was with an air temp of about 5*C so on a summers day it would be warmer still.
  5. Here's a very rustic one I built in the woods, last year I think it was. Even has a backrest/drink holder! All the wood is from trees within about 50yds max of where the bench now is.
  6. The solid puncture proof trolley tyres are good but unfortunately they still use the same crappy bearings/wheel centres etc which will eventually fall apart
  7. At 1500 euros, how does that compare to a "proper" kindling machine? Although not much use commercially, the machine in the vid looks like it would be useful on an estate with sawmill and/or ready supply of off cuts, and where a lot of kindling is used in the 'big house' and cottages etc. Good use of a rainy day! If it had a larger infeed tray it would probably be more productive, and you could ditch the daft wee poker!
  8. Why use them? I'm sure there would be a local windscreen fitter who would offer much better service
  9. There's some info on it on the paving expert site, for a proper job it's quite a bit of work Paving Expert - AJ McCormack and Son - Reinforced Grass Paving If it's not going to be used heavily, I would maybe try the thin mesh that you can roll out onto the grass.
  10. Spotted one on ebay that would just fit, not got a fan but that could be added, just the radiator on it's own would help though surely? Black Universal Aluminium 13 Row Oil Cooler 250mm x 175mm x 32mm AN-10 Thread | eBay
  11. Saw this on local gumtree, Husqvarna 346xp for £600, christ! https://www.gumtree.com/p/power-saws/husqvarna-346xp-professional-petrol-chain-saw/1193534293
  12. Thanks, is an infrared thermometer the best thing for the job? Should've bought one when I saw them in Lidl a while back!!!
  13. Yes I had been looking and wondering if an engine oil cooler would do, there's some lovely cheap ones on ebay, but they all seem to be too long to fit I don't know how hot is too hot, I've adapted the machine to run a log splitter, and after about half an hour of use the flat face quick release couplings were too hot to hold! I don't want to boil the system!
  14. Thanks, it's ok the machine has electrics so 12v fan would work
  15. Hi, I'm looking for any suggestions for a small hydraulic oil cooler, new or used. I've got a hydraulic track barrow that I'm running an extra service off, but feel it needs an oil cooler. Later models of the machine are fitted with a small hydraulic oil cooler (with fan) by moving the battery to a new location, which seems the best place for it. The space for it to fit in is a max of 280mm tall and 210mm wide. So I'm wondering if there's any machines like mini/micro diggers, chippers etc that I might get 2nd hand parts for, with a similar sized radiator and fan?
  16. [ame] [/ame] Nice old bits of machinery in this video, never seen a log splitter like that before. Hope everyone went home with all their fingers and toes!
  17. Surely a bog standard flue damper would do the job? Something like: 150mmø Stovax Cast Iron Flue Damper | eBay Hunter Stoves 6" Cast Iron Flue Damper | eBay ?
  18. Sounds bliss, but do the shops accept Scottish banknotes?
  19. Surprised no one has said - fell the tree!
  20. Tourist traps! In saying that, the Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition* is worth a look, very interesting, I was doing a job for the owner so he let us in *not to be confused with anywhere with a similar name Rival Loch Ness Monster centres resolve name row - BBC News :laugh1:
  21. Tell them they can stay in the caravan in my garden for 2 weeks in exchange for an Easy lift Harness All of the above available here! There's defiantly some culture growing in the caravan
  22. Just got a new welder the other week, a Parweld inverter, £200, what a step up from my old buzzbox!! XTS 162 MMA Inverter - Parweld A real joy to use
  23. Interesting thread. I don't like to stop for long for lunch and usually round off the bill down to allow for a quick sarnie and cuppa. I remember one woman who kept bringing cups of tea, which was very nice, but each stop for tea would involve her nattering for 45mins (no joke!). I think one tea break was well over an hour Now I like a blether, but after spending half the day not actually working you feel like you can't charge for a full day, so I knocked a wee bit off, and she was delighted!
  24. If you're stuck the filling station in Muir of Ord has a red diesel pump
