    £15/hour

Was it dave Darby published by lili? Yes, useful book! Years ago I also had their book on firewood, but don't know where that went. I built a single chamber compost toilet down the bottom of the garden for about £50 this summer. The chamber is an old concrete coal bunker buried in to the slope

Redfield sounds an interesting place, I've got the book on compost toilets which was written by a former resident. I think I'm too antisocial to live somewhere like that though
  3. Cheers, they look good. The now retired chimney sweep, think he said his set was approx £750, so knew it asn't going to be cheap. Not sure if it's better to go for 12mm/14mm/16mm rods Think the going rate round here now is about £60 a chimney, and the sweeps are booked out for months.
  4. Is it your woods then? Might be best off with the silky handsaw and a balaclava if not.......?
  5. This video has been posted a few times before:
  6. They'll grow on a vertical rockface halfway up a waterfall
  7. Ouch, is that the hole left behind after they fitted your covid vax 5g micrchip?
  8. Do many folks on here do their own chimney(s) with a power sweeper, if so what kit are you using and do you recommend it? Would rather buy good quality that lasts a long time. For use in clay lined type chimneys.

    Jokes???

She'll be kicking herself if there's a water shortage next week!
  10. Hi folks, is the Husqvarna 365 still being made? A quick look online, most places either don't list it or out of stock. Is that the last 3-series saws gone for good now?
  11. How BP sparked a fuel crisis in drive to ease visa rules WWW.TELEGRAPH.CO.UK Timing of leak about oil giant's pleading fuels suspicions it is more about a lobbying campaign for looser EU immigration policies
  12. Sadly panic buying has reached the Inverness area, saw a few pumps out of order, probably all the nutters doing the nc500! Both vans have over half a tank in which will last me a long time so I'm not buying diesel, only petrol for machinery
  13. I don't follow news closely, but I thought earlier in the week it had started with maybe 15 BP petrol stations in the south of England running out of fuel (delivery late)? And everything else after that has been media & social media driven panic buying? The classic "I've heard they're running out of fuel so I better fill up!" I've no idea about underground tank capacity at petrol stations, delivery times, how many deliveries a week etc, but surely the number of tanker drivers needed to service the normal demand of 15 petrol stations isn't many? Maybe 5 drivers?? So the whole nationwide "shortage" and now changes to immigration rules is due to a handful of missing drivers?
  14. Maybe the whole thing is deliberate, BP want cheap drivers so they shut a few petrol pumps and let the news get out "don't panic", half the country panic buys, and BP get their eastern european workers?
  15. Unless you're really desperate for cash, build a good shelter and keep it. Logs in the shed is better than money in the bank.
  16. 10mins each way, why bother driving, get a bike
  17. I've seen some old sheds with barely any timber in them, somehow still standing. I'm still learning, and usuaully just do what looks "ok" or whatever timber I have to hand. According to planwell roofing: . "Unsupported purlins must have a depth of at least 1/ 20 of their span." So 3x2 on edge is good for 1.5m span.
  18. I wonder if £550 is a good price to put in for a job, it's almost like the £50 is just hanging on in there for no reason. Whereas if you'd initially said £595, it sounds like it's a £600 job that you've already knocked a fiver off! I do think aswell, that the type of person who argues about money before the job has even started, could turn out to be the type of person that you struggle to get payment out of after the job is done You have to be able to trust them
  19. Bit harsh. I'm glad to see the back of trailer tests, but there's no need for digs like that. Justme, I wish you well for the future. When one door closes another one opens and all that.
  20. New year cancelled 'cos of covid vax pass https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/news/ness-islands-halloween-bught-bonfire-night-christmas-light-250967/ “However, with the announcement by the Scottish Government around the introduction of vaccine passports from October 1, I understand that all the city’s free-to-attend events exceed the numbers outlined last week in parliament. Therefore, for several reasons, the events that people may have been expecting will not be possible in their usual format."
  21. Wow they're moved fast on this, initially they said it would be looked at 3 months after the consultation ended, so really in to the new year. Big payday for the trailer manufacturers, if they can build them fast enough!
  22. Apart from in the UK, where it usually costs more where the hydro and wind power is
